Applications

Marine Strip can be used on a wide range of surfaces, including:

• Wood
• Metal (not aluminium)
• Plastic
• GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic)

Its gel consistency allows for easy application on vertical surfaces without running, making it an ideal choice for detailed and intricate work. Note that Marine Strip is not suitable for use on aluminium surfaces or for removing polyurethane paint and varnish.

Always neutralise stripped wooden and porous (Brick, Stone, Concrete....) surfaces with Owatrol Deck Cleaner.

How to Use

• Apply a thick coat of Marine Strip evenly over the surface.
• Allow the product to work as per the recommended contact time, which varies depending on the type and number of paint layers.
• Remove the softened paint using fresh water and a scrubbing brush, paint scraper, or pressure washer (max. 60 bars/870 psi).
• For hardwoods rich in tannins, work in zones and avoid prolonged contact to prevent darkening. If darkening occurs, use Deck Cleaner to restore the wood's colour.
• Always perform a preliminary test to determine the optimal contact time for your specific application.

Marine Strip is a powerful chemical stripper containing sodium hydroxide. It is classified as a corrosive substance and can cause severe skin burns and eye damage. Always wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing, and eye protection when handling this product. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention if necessary.

Product Restrictions

• Not suitable for use on aluminium surfaces.
• Contact Owatrol or Rawlins Technical for advice before using on oak or chestnut surfaces.
• Will not remove 2-pack or baked-on paints and polyurethane coatings.
• Do not allow Marine Strip to dry on the surface; re-wet with water if necessary.
• For best results, follow the recommended application guidelines and safety precautions.
