Vista Mariana Epoxy Art Resin
Vista Mariana is a versatile, two-component epoxy resin designed for deep-pour applications. Specifically formulated for casting depths between 45mm and 75mm, this resin is highly favoured for creating river tables, large resin art, and other substantial pours. Its UV-stable properties ensure lasting clarity, while the self-levelling formulation minimises the appearance of bubbles, delivering a flawless finish with each application.
Application Uses
This resin is suitable for a range of professional applications, including woodworking, casting, resin art, and coating projects. Due to its unique composition, it handles both large and medium pours effectively. Vista Mariana provides optimal performance for deep projects that require significant structural integrity, clarity, and durability.
Special Features
Vista Mariana stands out due to its unique low-viscosity formulation, which allows it to reach a depth of up to 75mm in a single pour. This characteristic makes it suitable for large-scale projects, achieving a bubble-free finish without additional effort. It also boasts excellent UV stability, preventing yellowing over time, even in exposed environments. Certified food-safe, it meets standards for contact with aqueous, acidic, and alcoholic substances.
Mixing and Application
For best results, mix Vista Mariana at a 2:1 ratio by volume (or 100:45 by weight). Mix for at least 4 minutes using a slow-speed mixer, and transfer to a second container for a final stir. Maintaining an ambient temperature of 20-22°C is crucial for proper curing, with the resin reaching touch dry status within 24 hours. Complete de-moulding can occur between 48-72 hours, depending on the mass and working environment. Follow recommended thickness guidelines for ideal results.
Layering Technique
For projects requiring more than 75mm depth, Vista Mariana can be applied in layers. Wait until the initial layer reaches a tacky gel state before applying additional layers to ensure a strong bond without visible joins. If a layer has fully cured, sand the surface lightly and clean with isopropyl alcohol before applying the next layer.
Colour Options
Use Vista Colour Pigments to create both translucent and opaque finishes. This resin is compatible with a wide range of pigment colours, including metallic shades, which are ideal for customising project aesthetics. For a more metallic effect, blend in Vista Metallic Boost for a striking finish.
Limitations and Precautions
Do not use Vista Mariana for thin layers under 45mm, as it may lead to surface defects such as amine blush or bloom. Additionally, avoid working in confined spaces under 10m³ without adequate ventilation, and always follow safety protocols, including wearing gloves and eye protection. Ensure that the resin does not exceed recommended thickness per pour to prevent overheating and potential curing issues.
Recommended Additional Products
For projects on wood, pre-seal surfaces with Vista Rapids to prevent absorption issues. For thinner pours, consider faster-curing Vista Cascade or Turbo resin products.
Health and Safety
Handle Vista Mariana with care, as it may cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection. Avoid skin and eye contact and prevent exposure to drains or watercourses. UN Number: Part A - UN3082, Part B - UN2735.
