Overview
Duraseal is a high-performance two-pack resin sealer engineered to protect a wide range of flooring and surfaces, particularly suited for environments requiring enhanced scratch and abrasion resistance. Designed for professional and industrial use, this product offers outstanding UV and chemical resistance, ensuring long-lasting durability even in high-traffic settings. Available in silk or gloss finishes, Duraseal is manufactured in the UK and provides a robust solution for both aesthetic and practical floor protection.
Applications and Compatibility
Duraseal is ideal for sealing and protecting concrete floors, epoxy screeds, cementitious screeds, tiled floors, flake floor systems, and wooden flooring. Its solvent-based formula is specifically engineered for durability, making it suitable for various substrates used in industrial and commercial settings. The product’s high bonding strength enhances the longevity of these surfaces, protecting against scratches, chemical exposure, and general wear and tear.
Application Instructions
Duraseal is applied in two parts, mixed at a ratio of 100g Part A to 48g Part B. Follow these steps:
- Lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper for even adhesion.
- Wipe with a damp cloth and allow it to dry completely.
- Mix the two components thoroughly.
- Apply with a de-fuzzed microfibre roller, using a thin layer to avoid uneven coverage.
For best results, cross-roll to achieve an even coat. Heavy coats may result in a milky finish, so thin layers are recommended. Typically, two coats are ideal for high-traffic areas, with one coat sufficient for lower-traffic areas or specific surfaces such as tiles.
Coverage and Drying Times
With a coverage rate of approximately 8m² per litre, Duraseal is highly economical for large projects. Concrete and levelling screeds benefit from two coats, while epoxy screeds, tiles, and flake systems often require only one. After application, the sealer is touch-dry within 24 hours when maintained at a room temperature of 20-22°C. It is advisable to avoid foot traffic or placing objects on the surface until 48 hours post-application.
Mixing Techniques
Small batches can be mixed manually, but larger quantities require a slow-speed paddle mixer for optimal consistency. Ensure all components are evenly incorporated before application to prevent inconsistencies in the finish. For long-term storage, the product has a 12-month shelf life when unopened, but it should be used within 24 hours once opened and exposed to air.
Limitations and Recommendations
Duraseal is not recommended for areas subject to high levels of moisture or unsuitable substrates. Avoid applying thick layers, as this can lead to an uneven or milky appearance. For enhanced safety and efficacy, always refer to the data sheet for comprehensive usage and compatibility details.
