Jotun MegaCote Epoxy Coating
This two-pack amine-cured pure epoxy coating delivers outstanding corrosion resistance for both atmospheric and immersed environments. Its surface-tolerant formulation makes it ideal for use on various substrates, including carbon steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and wood. With high solids content and a fast-drying time, it provides efficient and long-lasting protection even at sub-zero application temperatures.
Where It Can Be Used
This epoxy coating is versatile and suitable for numerous applications:
- Water ballast tanks (PSPC approved for IMO Res. MSC 215(82))
- Hulls (above and below waterline)
- Superstructures and decks
- Osmosis prevention on composite hulls
- Structural steel, aluminium, and wood components
Application Guidelines
For optimal results, ensure proper surface preparation according to ISO standards:
- Carbon Steel: Minimum St 2; recommended Sa 2½ (ISO 8501-1)
- Galvanised Steel: Surface should be clean, dry, and have a rough profile
- Stainless Steel: Abrade with non-metallic abrasives
- Aluminium and Wood: Clean and dry surfaces with mechanical abrasion
Refer to the Technical Data Sheet for detailed preparation and mixing instructions.
Recommended Products and Compatibility
This coating pairs well with various primers and topcoats:
- Compatible Primers: Inorganic zinc silicate shop primers, epoxy primers
