Sikagard 700 S is a siloxane based water repellent impregnation. It penetrates well into the open pores of the substrate, providing durable water repellency, while still allowing water vapour diffusion in both directions. Sikagard 700 S can be used as water repellent and colourless protective surface treatment for absorbent exposed materials.
Features and Benefits:
- Reduction of capillary water absorption
- Reduces efflorescence
- Reduces dirt penetration into the pores
- Improves thermal insulation
- Can be overcoated with solvent based and dispersion coating
- Higher durability and resistance than conventional silicone based treatments
- Does usually not change the appearance of the substrate
- Reduces chloride ion ingress and movement
- Does not act as a vapour barrier
Sikagard 700 S is a one part water repellent impregnation for absorbent cementitious substrates. It penetrates well into the open pores of the substrate, providing durable water repellency, while still allowing water vapour diffusion in both directions. Sikagard 700 S complies with the requirements of EN 1504-2 for hydrophobic impregnation.
Uses:
Sikagard 700 S is used as a water repellent and colourless protective surface treatment for absorbent exposed materials such as concrete, cementitious rendering, concrete tiles, fibre cement, brickwork (clay and lime sand, non-vitrified), natural stone etc.
Sikagard 700 S can also be used as a hydrophobic primer under solvent based or emulsion protective coatings. Sikagard 700 S is used as a water-repellent impregnation (hydrophobic treatment) for absorbent substrates such as concrete in civil engineering or building concrete structures.

Questions
Question about the product
Karl on 2024-05-18 20:14:48 | Question:
I have a concrete floor that gets damp in the winter, rotting the wooden tiles. If I remove the tiles and clean the floor would this work to stop the damp coming up? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No. Although this product is deisgned to prevent water ingress, it is unsuitable for preventing water movement under pressure like this situation. A Damp Proof Membrane is required for a floor to prevent water migrating upwards. Please e-mail [email protected] with further details of your requirements and any images of the existing surface, to allow us to look into this further.
Gary Binks on 2022-11-24 15:31:08 | Question:
Can sikagard 709s be used as a primer prior to applying sika monotop 4012 |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, the bonding primer for use with Sika Monotop 4012 is Sika Monotop 1010.
Melody on 2022-01-31 20:21:58 | Question:
Hello, I am looking for a sealer to arrest or slow rising damp on an interior natural stone wall. After removing all the loose plaster and leaving the wall to dry out, I intend to coat it with an anti fungal sealer before looking for a product to slow the damp. Might this product be suitable or can you recommend another one? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for the enquiry, we have contacted you directly for more information.
