Questions
Question about the product
Carol L Townsley on 2019-11-13 14:27:01 | Question:
Can you advise me what is the coverage of 1 bag of Sikal Floor Level. I am wanting this to be around 10mm thick. The room is approx 12ft x 15ft. I thought it would give the coverage; but cannot see this. Thanks Carol |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
The coverage rates for products are stated under the 'Product Details' tab on each product page - The coverage rate for Sikafloor Level 30 is 1.8kg/m²/mm. Based on 17m² (12x15ft) at a rate of 10mm thick you would require 306kg of material (13 x 25kg bags).
marcus on 2019-05-28 19:58:08 | Question:
Can I use this on top of concrete as base for fire pit pizza oven, can it take direct flames. Thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, we would not recommend this.
Chris Coffill on 2019-01-30 21:23:27 | Question:
I have a garage floor approximately 2.5m X 3.25m with a tamped finish very rough. It was painted about 12 years ago, now chipped in various places but appears sound. What products should I use to give a finish, smooth enough to move a heavy weight around on small caster wheels. Some idea of quantities would be helpful. Many thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
A product such as Sikafloor Level 30 or Rust-Oleum Speed Screed would be ideal for this application but all products of this nature that we offer will require the surface to be clean, dry and free of all contaminants e.g. dirt, oils, grease, existing coatings and surface treatments etc. before application.
Chris on 2019-01-17 13:41:30 | Question:
Hi can you use this over tiles save taking them up |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Idealy we would recommend to remove the tiles, however as long as they are well adhered to the concrete and are not broken up, you can abrade the surface of the tiles to remove the sheen, prime with Sikafloor 161 with a broadcast and go over with the Sikafloor Level 30 to required depth. You just need to take into consideration that the bond strength of the screed will only be as strong as the bond between the tiles and the concrete.
Eugene McArdle on 2018-09-16 16:46:50 | Question:
Can I use Sikafloor 30 on a concrete garage floor as a finished surface ready for painting. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes, you will need to prime with Sikafloor 161 and fully broadcast with 0.3 - 0.8mm Sika Quartz Sand prior to the application of Sikafloor Level 30. Then, Sika would recommend 2 coats of Sikafloor 2540W or Sikafloor 264 N as a protective, finished floor coating.
Milda on 2018-06-13 15:24:40 | Question:
Does Sikafloor Level 30 pump screed require priming prior application? Assuming it's going onto mechanically prepared (ground or shot-blasted) concrete base. Many thanks, Milda |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
It does, the type of priming will depend on the intended use. For normal intended use, e.g. foot traffic, prime with Sikafloor 01 Primer. For high loads e.g. forklift trucks etc, prime with Sikafloor 161 and fully broadcast with 0.3-0.8mm Sika Quartz Sand.
