Questions
Question about the product
James Smith on 2024-11-04 21:47:48 | Question:
Hi, I've some composite decking to lay on top of an existing roof terrace. The existing liquid rubber roof has some puddling in places that my customer would like to fill, to displace any water. The roof is in good condition and it's more a piece of mind thing that they are keen to do. I've advised it's probably best to leave it or redo the roof. Can you put this product on a rubber roof? I'm scratching my head as to what I can use. There are products for concrete, metal or asphalt but rubber????? Ps l, this is not a EPDM roof Thanks for reading Regards James |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, we'd advise against applying a cementitious self leveller to an existing rubber roof, as it most likely won't adhere or bond to this type of substrate.
Russell on 2024-10-23 03:41:23 | Question:
I have an old concrete driveway (with plenty of cracks etc) could this be used to level it all and give a nice finish. Then I could paint it a darker grey? (I understand I would need to prime firstly) Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, if using this product or a similar levelling compound, cracks will always mirror through any type of levelling compound. You could consider 204 Fine Crack Repair assuming these are small cracks that require repairing, prior to application, or a similar Crack Repair coating. Once the cracks are filled and repaired, you could then consider applying Sikafloor 131 Level Latex Ultra as a self-levelling compound. We'd recommend applying to a small test area, to check for compatibilty and adhesion prior to full applciation, with any Fine Crack Repair that is firstly applied.
Ray Spooner on 2024-08-19 07:39:32 | Question:
Can this be used on a felt roof that is ponding, then it would be sealed over the top with a liquid coating system. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No. The felt would need to be completely removed and the material applied on top of the correct substrate. This product is intended for application to floor smoothing or levelling uneven rigid internal floors, as well as exterior applications such as sheltered balconies and walkways, prior to laying ceramic tiles, slabs or natural stone. It can also be overlaid with common floor coverings, or left as a final wearing surface.
Jason on 2023-07-10 13:54:53 | Question:
Is it possible to apply engineered wood floor adhesive to this once its fully cured? Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes this can be done, you could consider SikaBond 52 Wood Floor for a compatible adhesive.
Andy on 2020-04-15 19:15:54 | Question:
Hi, does this product (sika floor 131 level latex ultra )require much trowelling or can it be poured and spread to find own level? Application is the uneven surface of a 25 Sq m concrete pad for a shed. Thanks Andy |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Sikafloor 131 Level Latex Ultra when you pour the mixture out onto the prepared floor it does find its own level, but requires trowelling down lightly to achieve an overall thickness not exceeding 10 mm per coat.
Nigel on 2019-11-04 22:06:26 | Question:
We have removed old parquet flooring and Black bitumen type glue still tacky on concrete floor. Can we use this product directly to level floor ? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
You would have to remove at least 60% of the bitumen and the remainder has to be spread evenly across the floor then prime the area with SCHÖNOX VD 1:1 with water. Once completely dry level with SCHÖNOX HS 10 F.
mark Dickson on 2019-09-29 10:13:56 | Question:
Will the concrete base I am applying the Sikalevel 30 latex ultra to have to be primed or is OK to apply without? Thanks Mark. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Please refer to the product data sheet available from the 'Attachments' tab on the product page. At the time of writing this the current version shows details of the preparation and application required on page 2.
mark Dickson on 2019-09-29 10:10:04 | Question:
Can I use the Sikalevel 30 latex ultra to level an existing concrete pad on to which a hot tub is going to sit?. The hot tub will be 1200Kg when filled. Thanks Mark. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
SikaLevel 30 Latex Ultra has a compressive strength of 30 N/mm² so it would depend on the specification of the hot tub manufacturer in regard to a suitable substrate.
Peter on 2019-07-08 12:00:52 | Question:
Can I apply Epoxyshield garage floor paint kit or Epoxy hield Maxx direwctly on top of a floor that has been self-levelled using Sikalevel 30 Latex Ultra? Also which version of the above is recommended for a domestic garage, as little between the 2? Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes either product could be applied over this levelling screed, for a small domestic garage the Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor Coating Kit would be recommended.
