Questions
Question about the product
Tim A-T on 2023-11-24 15:37:47 | Question:
I've used this on bare plaster on my dining room ceiling. The plaster had been up for several months but had a couple of hairline cracks. The paint went on easily and, after one coat, looked pretty good, with the cracks reasonably covered. It needed a second coat and I waited 24 hours before applying. On applying the second coat, the first coat peeled off in large areas. To say, I'm not happy is an understatement. What can I do now? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for your enquiry, we have contacted you directly for more information.
David mann on 2022-12-07 06:30:27 | Question:
Hi. Can this be used straight onto bare plastered ceilings? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes, assuming the plastered ceiling is clean, dry, sound, with a moisture content of less than 15% and is prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet.
Tony Bainbridge on 2022-02-27 14:37:46 | Question:
Can this be used in high humidity areas: bathroom and kitchen? Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, unfortunately this is not suitable, for application to walls and ceilings in high humidity areas, not subject direct water contact we can recommend Zinsser Perma-White Interior This is available in many RAL, NCS and BS colours in a matt or satin finish.
Charles Bartram on 2022-02-04 14:20:53 | Question:
I have an Artex ceiling in a kitchen, it has been emulsion some years ago. Some emulsion is peeling and cracking. I have brushed and cleaned a test area and applied a coat of Zinzer Peel Stop to see what the effect is. Would you recommend this approach and then a coat of Zinzer Ceiling Pro? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes, these two products can be used in this way to provide a finished ceiling.
Thomas on 2022-01-13 15:53:49 | Question:
we have LED lights shining over our ceiling and it is showing up a lot of imperfections in the plastering. will this help at all? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
if the imperfections are hairline cracks, yes this product could be used. If the imperfections are larger, repairs may be need to the ceiling prior to painting.
Jane Fletcher on 2018-06-08 13:25:36 | Question:
Will Zinsser 5:1 cover light grease stains on textured ceiling |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We wouldn't recommend this, try cleaning with the Zinsser Universal Degreaser & Cleaner to remove as much as you can before applying Zinsser Ceiling Pro 5 in 1.
John on 2017-05-16 15:13:25 | Question:
I want to use this product to cover hairline cracks in a bathroom ceiling but also want to emulsion over it with a different colour. The product sheet states that it does not mix with emulsion paint. Would an emulsion coat over it adhere properly? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
You can overpaint the Zinsser Ceiling Pro 5 in 1 with a conventional emulsion provided the 1 hour recoat/overcoat time is followed. The other option would be for us to tint the Ceiling Pro to a pastel colour using our mixing machines. The colour will come up slightly lighter compared to a standard tint due to higher loading of white pigment in the Ceiling Pro.
