Description
Zinsser Drywall Pro 2-in-1 - Innovative Priming and Sealing System
Prepare new and damaged drywall, plaster, and other porous surfaces for painting, wallpapering, texturing, and other decorative projects. This product combines the functions of a primer and sealer in one, providing a sound, water-resistant foundation that protects surfaces during redecoration. Its water-based formula ensures low odour and low VOC content, making it suitable for both professional and consumer use.
Applications
Zinsser Drywall Pro 2-in-1 can be used on various surfaces, including:
- Damaged Drywall: Prevents bubbles when skim-coated with filler or joint compound, restoring the surface for repairs.
- New Drywall, Skim Coat, and Filler: Seals porous surfaces, creating a uniform base for finish coatings.
- Wallpaper Adhesive Residue: Seals in residual adhesive to prevent reactivation and damage from water-based topcoats.
- Textured Walls and Ceilings: Penetrates and hardens texture material, creating a durable barrier.
- Pre-Wallcovering Primer: Prepares surfaces for new wallcovering and protects during future redecorations.
- Builder’s Flat Paint: Binds chalky paint to the wall, providing water-resistant protection.
Instructions for Use
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, and other contaminants. Use Zinsser Universal Degreaser & Cleaner for best results.
- Stir Zinsser Drywall Pro 2-in-1 thoroughly before use. Do not thin.
- Apply using a brush, medium nap roller, or airless spray (tip size 0.015”-0.019” at 2000-2500 psi).
- Apply liberally to ensure good penetration. Avoid over-application to prevent sagging.
- Allow to dry to touch in 30 minutes. Recoat after 3 hours. Coverage is approximately 9-11m2 per litre.
- Clean tools and any spills with soap and warm water before the product dries. Store indoors at 5-25°C and protect from freezing.
Restrictions and Recommendations
Zinsser Drywall Pro 2-in-1 should not be used on exterior surfaces or in areas where prolonged exposure to moisture is expected. It is not suitable for application to bare ferrous metal. For optimal results, use in combination with other Zinsser products such as Zinsser DIF Wallpaper Stripper and Zinsser Mould Killer & Remover.
Health and Safety
The product contains 4,5-dichloro-2-octyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one and a reaction mass of biocides that may produce an allergic reaction. Ensure to handle with care and follow all safety instructions. The product does not contain Diisocyanates.

| Question:
Hi there, would this work as a primer for tiles? It's not in a bathroom or kitchen so moisture isn't a problem. It would be over new plasterboard, with taped and spacked joints. Thanks. |

This product is a primer sealer for use with paints or wall coverings. We would suggest to check with the manufacturer of the tile adhesive for what there recommended primer would be. | |

Assuming the plasterboard is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the tehcnial datasheet, this product will be fine for application. Any cracks will need to be filled and any existing coatings to be in sound condition to allow the product to work as intended. | |
