No, this product is used to hide wall paper print and can be used to block water soluble stains. We would suggest Zinsser B-I-N for blocking most types of stains on internal plastered walls and timber. If the timber is external, this product should only be used to spot prime small areas.

Can you use this to cover woodchip paper

Zinsser Wallpaper Cover-Up would be fine for this. Wallpaper must be clean, sound and well adhered, apart from that it should go straight on. You can then overpaint using a coloured emulsion. Note: Zinsser Wallpaper Cover-Up is not a high build product therefore it will not disguise the wood chip feature, this will still show through the paint coatings.

I want to cover both wallpaper and wood paneling. Can I use this on interior wood paneling?

Assuming the panelling has been painted and there are no knots showing then yes Zinsser Wallpaper Cover-Up can be applied. If the panelling is varnished or bare timber, the knots will need to be sealed first with Zinsser B-I-N then the Wallpaper Cover-Up applied.

Will this work on covering over vinyl wallpaper?

In general we sort colours for products into 2 main groups - ‘Ready Mixed’ and ‘Tinted’.
Tinted colours will always be more expensive than Ready Mixed colours as they need to be produced at the time of order using a tinting machine dispensing colourant into a base*.
During busy periods, this means that tinted colours could take longer, for example – a ready mixed colour ordered on a 3-5 day delivery might arrive within 3 days, however a tinted colour might take the full 5 days to arrive.

To find Ready Mixed colours, search "ready mixed" or select the Ready Mixed 'colour chart'. To see Tinted colours select a colour chart such as RAL, BS, NCS, etc. or search for a colour/hue to see available or related options.

To ensure fair pricing, we split colours into ‘Price Bands’ to group together similar priced colours. If you wish to search for the cheapest tinted colours, always select Price Band 1.

Applications

Zinsser Wallpaper Cover-Up is ideal for use on:

Walls: Ensures a smooth, uniform surface for painting over existing wallpaper with a coloured emulsion.
Ceilings: Provides excellent adhesion and stain blocking properties for ceilings covered in wallpaper.
Water-Soluble Stains: Blocks stains such as water marks, smoke damage, and tannin bleed, preventing them from bleeding through the topcoat.

Instructions for Use

Ensure the wallpaper is well-adhered to the surface and that the surface is clean, dry, and free from any contaminants.
Stir Zinsser Wallpaper Cover-Up thoroughly before use.
Apply the product when the temperature is between 10-30°C using a short pile (up to 5mm) mohair or microfibre roller for best results. For brush application, use only for cutting in and avoid overspreading.
If covering very dark wallpapers or those with a contrasting print, a 'wet on wet' rollering technique can improve obliteration. Roll over the applied surface again with a lightly loaded roller 15-30 minutes after application.
The product is touch dry within 2-4 hours and can be recoated after a minimum of 4 hours. Apply a good quality wall paint as the topcoat for the best finish.
Clean equipment with white spirit immediately after use. Do not empty into drains or watercourses.

Restrictions and Recommendations

Zinsser Wallpaper Cover-Up should be used in well-ventilated areas to facilitate proper drying. For best results, limit brush application to cutting in and avoid using a heavy pile roller, which can result in an uneven finish. Always follow the recommended application instructions and safety guidelines to ensure optimal performance and safety. If applying over heavily stained or dark wallpapers, a second coat may be necessary for complete coverage.
