Questions
Question about the product
Donna on 2024-03-26 08:44:23 | Question:
Would this help for exterior, rendered, retaining wall please ? We get bubbles but only while it’ raining when it’s dry the paint soaks back into the wall like it never happened. Or what would you recommend for this please ? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no, this would not help. Installing a damp proof membrane or using a waterproofing render such as the Sika 1 Waterproofing System could address the issue.
Margo Hardie on 2023-10-05 10:31:10 | Question:
We have painted old sandstone walls white with masonry paint but the colour bleeding through will this paint prevent colour seeping through ? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product wouldn't be suitable for this type of application. Assuming you have prepared the substrate in accordance with the technical datasheet, have a clean, dry, sound surface, we'd recommend applying Zinsser Cover Stain as this is capable of blocking stains and bleeds, preventing the colour seeping through. Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Water/Solvent-Based, in your chocie of Satin, Matt or Gloss can be used as a topcoat. This can be mixed to 4400+ RAL, BS or NCS Colours.
Bethan on 2023-04-02 13:19:57 | Question:
Can this be used on a single breeze block wall to primer it before painting? Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product is designed to be applied to powdery masonry surfaces to seal and stabilise them prior to painting. It could be used if the breeze block walls are powdery.
john C on 2022-09-09 08:23:42 | Question:
We have an external car port under our house, this is plastered and not rendered. Can you suggest which primer and brilliant white silicone product s we should use. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for the enquiry, please can you send more information and pictures of the area to be painted to [email protected]
MThompson on 2021-12-20 10:10:02 | Question:
Can this sealant Wethertex ST1 be used on outside walls now at this time of the year. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
For application of this product the temperature must be between 5°C and 25°C for a minimum of 24 hours.
Alan on 2021-08-12 08:49:42 | Question:
Can your quick dry stabilising primer, be used on new plywood (school porta cabin) prior to HBS flex hi-build coating |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
On plywood we recommend priming first with Wethertex ST1 Quick Dry Stabilising Primer and then using a plasterers scrim on the joints before applying the Wethertex HBS Flex-Coat Hi-Build Coating.
Cheryl on 2021-05-09 21:59:21 | Question:
I want to paint my tiled door step what do you recommend I have used frenchic paint but it lifts and bubbles I’ve sealed first and after but it still lifts |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the tiles are ceramic, they are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the techncial data sheet we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote Clear Primer Treatment followed by Smartkote Protectakote UVR for an anti-slip finish or Smartkote Protectakote UVR Smooth.
Mrs Mader on 2018-10-18 09:42:55 | Question:
Silicon is to my knowledge a product which does not breath, i.e. lets air through. How is it that you are saying your silicone primer is breatheable ? I don't understand this and would be glad of an explanation from you as specialist. Thank you Sincerely R. Mader ( Mrs ) |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Wethertex products using the Optilife Silicone Technology have been scientifically developed and rigorously tested to work up to 20 years and provide ultra waterproofing, highly breathable and self-cleaning properties. Constant attack by water, frost and sun can seriously degrade buildings, ultimately causing them to fail. Even bricks can become damaged and delaminate. This can lead to damp problems, damage to the wall construction itself, and potentially extremely expensive remedial works. Wethertex exterior paints have been developed using advanced silicone technology to protect buildings against the damage caused by such inclement weather conditions.
