Although this product will protect from UV, it isn't recommended for application to external wood, due to the moisture content of the substrate not permitted to exceed 4%.

Assuming the previously painted surface areas are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical datasheet, this product can be applied.

We would recommend applying to a test area firstly, checking for compatibility and adhesion, prior to full application.

Whilst this product is suitable for application to sound, existing coatings, it isn’t suitable for application to bare steel or rusted areas of metal. 

If applying to previous coatings, please check for compatibility and adhesion by applying to a small, test area firstly.

Once the two components have been mixed the pot life at 20°C is 3 hours.

After this time the product is no longer usable.

This product can be applied over Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote. 

If this is applied outside of the overcoating window of 7 days, the previously painted floor will need to be clean, dry, sound and sanded prior to application.

This product has a thin film build so it would not normally be recommended to use an anti-slip additive with this product.

A better option would be to apply further coats of Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote as this has a higher film build so will more securely anchor in the aggregate.

The manufacturer does not recommend part mixing units but lists the mixing ratio as 4:1 by weight should you wish to part mix under your own choice.

Yes this can be applied on top of the Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield Garage Floor Kit assuming the floor is clean, dry, sound and within the maximum overcoat period of the Epoxy Shield Garage Floor Kit which is 7 days.

This is a two component waterbased paint prior to the paint curing wash the brushes in water.

Assuming the timber is clean, dry and sound this product can be used for this application. On new timber 3 coats is recommended with the first coat thinned 10% with clean water.

Yes Rust-Oleum 4900 Polycoat 2K could be used to provide a gloss finish, it will improve abrasion resistance, is easy to clean and will not yellow. Resists boiling water, alcohol, coffee, red wine, dilute acid and alkalis.

You would only mix the quantity you need to use for one coat, the rest of the material remains unaffected until you need to mix more to apply your second or third coat, etc. Download the product data sheet from the 'Attachments' tab for details on mixing the product.

The coverage rate is recommended as 13.5m²/l at 30 µm dry film build for horizontal surfaces and 20m²/l at 20 µm dry film build for vertical surfaces. The pot life of the product is 3 hours and the drying time for the product to receive further coats is 4 hours.

These products are very similar, Blackfriar Heavy Duty Varnish comes in larger pack sizes, is available in Satin or Gloss finishes and is more suited to bare concrete or timber surfaces. Rust-Oleum 4900 Polycoat 2K comes in smaller pack sizes and is available in Matt or Gloss finishes and is able to be applied over more varieties of existing coatings.

Diluting with 10% water is only recommended on the product data sheet for the first coat on new wood/concrete. If you needed the whole 2.5lt tin for the first coat on new wood/concrete, 10% dilution would mean you should add 250ml of clean, cold water. 

Zinsser Cover Stain has been used in this situation to block the rust stains however there is no guarantee how long it will hold the stains back. As soon as any trace of moisture gets into the metal beading the rusting process will start again and stains are likely to bleed through once more. It would not be possible to say how long the primer would hold the staining back.

The render surfaces must be completely dry before applying the primer.

Applying 2 coats of the Cover Stain will give a little more protection and hold back the staining for longer than 1 coat.

The Cover Stain can be overcoated with a standard masonry type coating.

You could apply Zinsser AllCoat Exterior or Zinsser Perma-White Exterior over the Cover Stain primer. These products will reduce water ingress and hopefully prevent stains from reappearing for longer.

Note that the only 100% effective way to solve the problem would be to remove the affected angle beading and replace with new stainless steel or plastic beading.
