Terry Richards on 2017-11-09 21:40:22 | Question: Hi, I have a new 28 square meter concrete garage floor, please advise:
1. how long should I allow concrete curing time before painting?
2. Quantity & product to clean, prepare floor?
3. Quantity & product to pre seal floor?
4. Quantity & product to paint floor & number of coatings?
The rear garage wall is floor to ceiling double glazed units and paint product will therefore need to tolerate high levels UV light without dis-colouring over time. Thank you for your assistance.

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Blackfriar Professional High Traffic Floor Paint is an exceptionally hard-wearing, high performance, easy-to-clean 2-pack solvent based floor coating ideal for indoor and outdoor use. Provides outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemicals. Non-yellowing, excellent colour fastness. Preparation Ensure the surface to be painted is sound, clean, dry and free from grease or any substance liable to give adhesion problems. Scrape off any old or flaking paint until you have a firm surface. Special attention should be given to areas under cars to ensure all oil, grease, dirt and road salt is removed. Prepared surfaces with residual oil contamination should be primed with Blackfriar Professional Oil Tolerant Primer. New concrete must be left for at least 6 months before applying Blackfriar Professional High Traffic Floor Paint. Power-floated floors should either be blast tracked or treated with Blackfriar Professional Acid Etch followed by thorough rinsing. New or exposed bare concrete should be primed with Blackfriar Professional Water Based Epoxy Floor Primer. Based on 28m² (assuming your floor is NOT power-floated) you would require; 1 x 5L Blackfriar Professional Epoxy Floor Primer
Rob Jones on 2017-10-09 08:56:22 | Question: Hi there, I have a worn out garage floor that has previously been painted but now the paint has worn and lifted in places. I keep getting white powder building up even though I have tried different sealers. If I coat the floor with Everbuild 908 DPM to stop the damp rising, can I then coat with epoxy paint and if so which one would be most suitable? Or do you have a product that would do both? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Remove all existing coating from floor and apply 402 Damp Proof Coating. Download all product data sheets from the 'DATASHEETS' tab and read thoroughly before use.
