Coo-Var Anti-Slip Acrylic Floor Paint
Coo-Var Anti-Slip Acrylic Floor Paint is an effective solution for providing long-lasting, slip-resistant finishes on various surfaces. It is designed to withstand daily wear and tear, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. This single-pack paint ensures an even matt finish across a range of surfaces, from concrete to wood, tarmac, and stone.
Recommended Uses
This anti-slip floor paint can be applied to multiple surfaces, including concrete, wooden floors, tarmac, stone, brickwork, and prepared metal. It is suitable for both domestic and commercial settings. For outdoor areas like patios or indoor spaces such as garages, this product provides reliable slip resistance, even in wet conditions.
- Concrete surfaces (ensure roughened texture for adhesion)
- Wood, brickwork, and tarmac
- Prepared and primed metal surfaces
Application Instructions
Before applying, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from contaminants. For best results on concrete or smooth surfaces, roughen the surface through mechanical means such as abrading or blasting, or use Coo-Var Acid Etch. On metal, apply Coo-Var All Metals Primer beforehand.
When applying, use a brush or roller. Thin the paint with up to 10% clean water for the first coat on porous surfaces. Avoid application in temperatures below 7°C, and ensure adequate ventilation in enclosed spaces. Allow 6 hours between coats, with full hardness achieved in 5 to 7 days.
Limitations and Restrictions
Do not use this product on surfaces where temperatures may drop below 7°C during the drying period. For newly laid concrete, allow up to 3 months for the surface to fully cure before application. Always ensure surfaces are properly prepared to prevent peeling or poor adhesion. Additionally, do not use this product on unprepared metal or untreated timber without a suitable primer.
Maintenance and Longevity
Once applied, Coo-Var Anti-Slip Acrylic Floor Paint offers long-term durability. However, the longevity of the coating depends on the surface’s condition and use. In high-traffic areas, periodic maintenance may be required to retain the anti-slip properties. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning methods, as these could damage the surface.
Recommended Products
For best results on unpainted or untreated surfaces, consider pairing this paint with Coo-Var Acid Etch for concrete surfaces or Coo-Var All Metals Primer for metal surfaces. These products will ensure better adhesion and longer-lasting results.
Health and Safety
Contains small amounts of sensitising agents like 1,2-Benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, which may cause allergic reactions. Ensure to use in well-ventilated areas and wear appropriate protective clothing. Always refer to the Safety Data Sheet for further health and safety details.

Questions
Question about the product
John Rogerson on 2024-09-08 07:33:28 | Question:
Please advise if Coo-Var anti slip acrylic floor paint is suitable for an imprinted concrete path. Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product wouldn't be suitable to use for this type of application. Assuming it is a block paved driveway/walkway, it is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can suggest AdSeal Imprinted Concrete Sealer. This can be used with AdSeal Colour Pigment added in your chosen colour to blend in faded or chipped areas or applied as a subtle tint or completly obscure.
Ian Benson on 2022-11-20 17:54:58 | Question:
We have a garden path of concrete flags with a border of bricks. This can become dangerously slippery especially in a shaded sloping area where leaves also fall. What product would you recommend, please? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the concrete flag path has a damp proof membrane, the flags are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend the flags are acid etched with Coo-Var Acid Etch followed one coat of Coo-Var Floor Paint thinned 10% then two coats of Coo-Var Suregrip Anti-Slip Floor Paint. This is available in a range of colours. Please note that at this time of year it is too cold and damp to apply paints for this application, we would recommend waiting for a dry period when the temperatures are above 10°C
Jessica on 2022-08-16 17:08:48 | Question:
We have a new house with a tiled kitchen floor, (stone type), it is very dangerously slippery with any water on it. Would this be a good product to use to make the floor safe? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no, while this is an anti-slip paint it would be quite rough on bare feet and not easy to clean. Assuming the tiles are marble, they are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote Clear Primer Treatment followed by Smartkote Safekote. This is available in a range of colours in a semi-gloss finish.
Angela Nolan on 2021-03-24 15:42:58 | Question:
Is this the best product for an outdoor, cement garden path? I need it to be slip-resistant, durable so I'm not recoating every year, preferably roller application and pet-friendly when dry. The Hard Dry time needs to be as short as possible too as I have pets that will be barred from the garden for the drying duration. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the path is concrete, clean, dry, sound and prepared in the Technical Data sheet we can recommend Coo-var Anti-slip Acrylic Floor Paint for this application to an external path. Most of the external options have very similar drying and curing times but none are classed as pet safe. The fully cured time is approximately 7 days.
Pat Griffin on 2019-01-15 12:32:49 | Question:
Hi, I have always applied every year 2 pack floor paint to a concrete floor in our fish processing area where there would be a wet area, this paint is not non slip and needs coating once a year, I have got a quotation from a specialist company to re do this floor but the price i was quoted is ridiculous. so could you recommend something non slip and hard wearing |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We would suggest 503 Easy Clean Anti Slip Coating, this is a high-build epoxy resin coating containing a hard wearing fine particle anti slip additive that is pre-dispersed into the resin and held in suspension. The result providers a ready to use product that leaves an evenly textured, slip resistant surface that is easy to clean and extremely durable.
