Versatile Epoxy Primer for Challenging Surfaces
Epoxy FAS 100 is a high-performance two-component epoxy primer engineered for adhesion on difficult substrates. It forms a strong bond on materials such as tiles, various metals, concrete, and cement screeds. This primer ensures mechanical durability and is resistant to residual moisture, making it ideal for demanding environments.
Applications and Compatible Substrates
This epoxy primer is specifically formulated for use on:
- Tiles and metals
- Concrete and cement screeds (up to 6% moisture content)
- Oily substrates
- Bonded screeds, levelling layers, and epoxy mortars
It serves as a primer beneath Remmers PU and EU coatings, ensuring compatibility for professional flooring applications.
Durability and Performance
Epoxy FAS 100 delivers outstanding performance, featuring:
- High compressive strength (up to 76 N/mm²)
- Excellent flexural tensile strength (approx. 22 N/mm²)
- Resilience to mechanical loads and impact
- Strong adhesion without broadcasting on compatible surfaces
Its unique formulation makes it a cost-effective choice due to its high filling capacity.
Application and Mixing Instructions
Proper substrate preparation is essential. Ensure surfaces are clean, stable, and free from contaminants before application. The primer can be applied to slightly moist surfaces but should not be used where liquid water is present.
Mixing must be done thoroughly:
- Multi-chamber bags: Knead the bag for at least 60 seconds to ensure proper mixing.
- Combi-container: Mix component A and B with a slow-speed mixer for at least 3 minutes, ensuring a streak-free blend.
The mixed primer should be spread evenly using an epoxy roller or notched trowel to achieve uniform coverage.
Limitations and Restrictions
Do not use Epoxy FAS 100 on the following:
- Surfaces with standing water
- Areas exposed to UV light without additional coatings
- Unprepared or unstable substrates
Ensure compliance with site conditions, including temperature (minimum +8°C, maximum +30°C) and humidity (not exceeding 80%). The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point.
Drying and Curing Times
At 20°C, the product allows:
- Foot traffic after 24 hours
- Mechanical loading after 3 days
- Full chemical resistance after 7 days
Higher temperatures accelerate curing, while lower temperatures extend it.
Health and Safety
Classified under UN 3082 as an environmentally hazardous substance, Epoxy FAS 100 contains epoxy resins that may cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Proper protective equipment, including gloves and eye protection, must be worn during handling. Always refer to the downloadable safety data sheet for full details.
