Hi, does a primer need to be applied to structural steel before using this? The existing surface is red oxide. Can this be painted over and by which types of paint? Thanks, Matt

This product can be applied over a compatible primer. This product can only be over painted by a compatoble topcoat such as Jotun Conseal Touch-Up . This is available mixed to many RAL, NCS or BS colours in a matt finish. Hi, I need 60min fire protection for a total of 14.8sq m (on 3 separate beams). How many liters do I need? Additionally, can this be applied directly on red oxide or do I need to apply a primer first? Thanks

This product must be used over a compatible primer and with a compatible topcoat, we can assist with specifications for intumescent paints for steel. Can it be overpainted

This can be over painted with compatible topcoats such as Jotun Conseal Touch-Up or Jotun Hardtop XP .

In general we sort colours for products into 2 main groups - ‘Ready Mixed’ and ‘Tinted’.
Tinted colours will always be more expensive than Ready Mixed colours as they need to be produced at the time of order using a tinting machine dispensing colourant into a base*.
During busy periods, this means that tinted colours could take longer, for example – a ready mixed colour ordered on a 3-5 day delivery might arrive within 3 days, however a tinted colour might take the full 5 days to arrive.

To find Ready Mixed colours, search "ready mixed" or select the Ready Mixed 'colour chart'. To see Tinted colours select a colour chart such as RAL, BS, NCS, etc. or search for a colour/hue to see available or related options.

To ensure fair pricing, we split colours into ‘Price Bands’ to group together similar priced colours. If you wish to search for the cheapest tinted colours, always select Price Band 1.

Jotun Steelmaster 600WF is a one component waterborne acrylic thin film intumescent coating. Independently approved for fire protection of structural steel exposed to cellulosic fire. Can be used as mid coat or finish coat in atmospheric environments. Suitable on approved primers on carbon steel substrates.
