2-pack, solvent-free epoxy resin bonding and priming coat. It bonds resin-based screeds and toppings to cementitious and other surfaces.
- Versatile for many types of application.
- Excellent adhesive properties.
- Easy to apply.
- Can be used as a tack coat for screeds.
- No unpleasant or harmful odours.
- Formerly known as Resuprime.
Resuprime ST (formerly known as Resuprime) provides excellent adhesion both as a tack coat and primer. Where surfaces are very porous, a coat of Resuprime ST may be required as a pre-primer coat before a second coat is applied as a tack coat.
For application onto new concrete, or where the RH level is likely to be above 75%, Resuprime MVT (formerly known as R.S. Dampshield FH) should be applied.
Resuprime ST is also suitable for priming self-smoothing epoxy resin finishes such as Resuflor and resin based concrete repair products such as Resupatch. Resuprime ST can also be used as a primer for high build epoxy resin coatings such as Resutop and Resucoat H.B.
Recommended Uses
- Concrete primer and sealer
- As a primer for Sherwin-Williams floor coatings and screeds – this includes RSL products.
Preparation
New Concrete Floors: New concrete must be clean, sound, dry, fully cured and surface laitance removed by vacuum enclosed shot blasting or mechanical grinding. A minimum strength of 25N/mm sq. is required.
Existing Concrete Floors: Remove all dirt, oil, grease, old paint or any other surface contaminants by vacuum enclosed shot blasting, scarifying or mechanical grinding. Fats, oils or greases must be removed by mechanical means and detergent washing and make sure all residue of detergent is washed and removed by rinsing with clean water.
Local repairs should be carried out with Resuflor Patch or Resuflor Screed.
Existing Floors (previously coated): All previous coatings and loose floor paints must be removed by mechanical preparation as described in the above section and primed as specified. If the old resin flooring cannot be removed, then please consult with our technical team for advice on intercoat adhesion and suitability, as it may not be compatible with the existing floor coating.
Resuprime ST can also be applied to existing coatings and to other cementitious screeds, which should be clean and sound with an appropriate mechanical key for adhesion.
Priming
Resuprime ST is suitable for application onto concrete and other substrates where the relative humidity is less than 75% ERH. Hygrometer readings should be done in accordance with BS 8203 to confirm the ERH of the substrate prior to application.
If the ERH is above 75%, then Resuprime MVT (formerly known as R.S. Dampshield FH) should be used in place of Resuprime ST.
Application
The ambient temperatures of the areas should not be allowed to fall below 15°C throughout the application and the curing period, as this could have an adverse effect on the appearance and colour of the system. Surface temperature must be above 10°C. Where possible it is recommended that the application area is heated to a minimum temperature of 15°C ideally, to allow the ambient and substrate temperature to stabilise prior to installation.
Mixing: Pre-mix the base component to a uniform consistency then mix the entire contents of the base with the hardener. If a separate mixing bucket is being used for mixing, ensure all contents of both components are removed from the buckets supplied. Mix using a slow speed electric mixer for approximately two to three minutes until the two components have fully combined.
The mixed unit should be applied immediately by squeegee, roller or brush with a consistent procedure. Floor areas should be cross-rolled to ensure even application and to minimise roller marks. Coverage rates may vary depending on profile and porosity of the substrate.
