Features & Benefits
- Water-based
- Formulated to give minimum slip on macadam and concrete tennis courts
- Slip resistance of 60 in the wet or damp for safer play
- Contains algicide and fungicide
- Available in twelve deep, long-lasting colours
- Long-lasting finish

Spreading Rate
These will vary depending on substrate, the site conditions and longevity required.
Typically spreading rates will vary depending on the end use.
- Painting may be carried out by most industrial airless equipment
- Tip size of 28 thou is recommended with 45° angle
- Thinning up to 10% may be required in cold conditions but best results are obtained when the coating is applied neat
- Care should be taken to mask all areas not to be coated
- Coverage 6-8m²/litre per coat
- Apply two coats
Drying Times
- Drying takes from 1-2 hours in good conditions
- Avoid painting in high humidity or when rain is expected
- Over coating may be undertaken when first coat is dry to touch
- Curing depends on atmospheric conditions
- Please refer to specialist applicator recommendations regarding play after spraying is completed
Preparation
- All surfaces should be free from loose and flaking material, dirt, grease and vegetative growth
- Any debris may be removed by vacuum or pressure blasting with air or water
- Brushing (manual or machine) may be suitable in particularly difficult areas, i.e: under trees or areas constantly in the shade
- Decatone Tarmac Binder should be used to stabilise a friable, porous or aged concrete court or fretting macadam
Application
- Stir well before use as stainers used can separate with time
- Mix thoroughly when using different batches
- Surfaces that are cold – below 5°C – are not suitable for coating
- Hot surfaces – above 30°C – should be cooled with water spray before application otherwise paint will dry before film formation is completed
- New bitumen should be left to harden off before coating
- The time will vary with the nature of the surface and the weather (Minimum 3 weeks in summer and up to 3 months in winter)
- New concrete should be allowed to mature for several months before coating
- Do not over-paint/seal court
- Recommended application between March and October
Note. During the summer months there is a possibility of paint skinning from warm weather/transportation (top of inside lid and rim). We recommend that the paint is pre-filtered on site through a course filter to remove skins before spraying.
Initial Play On Surface:
- After spraying, courts are usually left for one week before play recommences
- At the beginning and towards the end of the summer season, when temperatures are cooler and surfaces take longer to dry, it is advisable to extend this period by a few days, depending on the prevailing weather
- Optimum slip resistance is only achieved between two and three weeks after spraying
Maintenance Of Tennis Court:
- To maintain the slip resistance of the coating, courts must be regularly maintained and moss treated
- Correct footwear must be worn
- Do not apply salt or de-icer when surface is frozen
Tests
Slip Resistance Value (SRV):
- The test procedure is described in ITF test procedure CS 02/01:1997 and BS EN 13036 Part 4 using the CEN Rubber Test Foot (complies with the minimum requirements of 60 in the wet or damp)
Taber Abrasion:
- The Wet Scrub is performed according to ISO 119988
- Weight loss as measured in grams per m2 - coatings tested fall into Scrub Class 1
Precautions
- Keep out of reach of children
- In case of contact with eyes wash immediately with plenty of water
- Remove splashes from skin with soap and water or a recognised hand cleaner
- Protect from freezing
- Do not apply paint if there is a risk of heavy rain or frost
- Do not use near fishponds
Precautions must be taken, and recommendations given to the client/club with regard to possible failure when courts are in a damp condition or when shaded by over-hanging trees or bushes.
Trees and bushes produce residues, which can be deleterious and cause breakdown of the top layer of macadam.
Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for further details.
