Description

Bradite One Can Eggshell

Bradite One Can Eggshell is a dual-purpose primer and finish solution designed for both professional and DIY use. Its quick-drying nature means that surfaces can be ready for re-coating in just one hour under normal conditions. The low odour and water-based formula make it easily applicable in a wide range of areas compared to solvent-based alternatives. It is especially effective at promoting adhesion to various substrates, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, ceramics, and wood.

Applications

Whether you're coating exterior cladding, metal surfaces, or plastics such as uPVC, this product offers reliable performance. It is ideal for use on surfaces previously coated with materials like coil, plastisol, and powder coatings, requiring minimal preparation. Additionally, it locks in stains such as watermarks, nicotine, and even hard wood resin, providing a clean base for further coats.

Preparation and Application

Proper surface preparation is crucial for achieving the best results. All surfaces must be free from dust, grease, and moisture before application. For metals, it's recommended to degrease and lightly abrade the surface. Plastics and uPVC surfaces should be treated with methylated spirits before application. For the best finish, apply at least two coats, with up to three coats needed for high stain-blocking or anticorrosive performance.

Limitations and Restrictions

This product is not recommended for lime or natural plasters. Additionally, it should not be used on damp surfaces or on green oak that has not been weathered for at least six months. Over-application may result in prolonged drying times, and applying to poorly prepared surfaces can compromise adhesion.

Recommended Products

For additional protection on heavily rusted surfaces, consider using Bradite Rust Converter RC46 before applying this product. For cleaning and degreasing, Bradite TD39 Industrial Degreaser is recommended. Always refer to the downloadable datasheets for detailed product specifications and application guidance.

questions Jon Austin on 2024-09-03 16:54:00
Question:

Is Bradite One Can eggshell suitable for cast iron without a primer? I am looking to paint an old cast iron lamp post.

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming the cast iron is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical datasheet, this product could be applied direct to this surface, with a 2-3 coat application recommended.

It is classified as a Primer/Finish product.

questions Bill Winder on 2024-06-18 11:07:14
Question:

Can this paint be used on an external varnished door?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming the door is a varnished timber door, that is clean, dry and sound, we'd recommend sanding the existing coating with 120 grit sandpaper to remove as much varnish as possible, followed by 3 full coats of Bradite One Can Eggshell in your choice of many RAL, BS or NCS Colours to finish.

questions Craig Fleming on 2024-01-16 16:04:10
Question:

Hi, could this be used on windows to stop light coming in?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming the glass is thoroughly cleaned and degreased to ensure the removal of all surface contaminants, grease and oils, this product can be applied direct to glass, however when painting glass brush strokes can be visible from the other side of the glass.

It is recommended to apply 3 full coats to achieve the intended outcome, as it is a 3-in-1 product it will prime, seal and stain block the glass for the intended finish.

This is a non-removable product once the glass has been coated, assuming you would like the option of a removable product, you could consider Coo-Var White Glass Shading.

questions Amanda Bruce on 2023-01-24 15:06:07
Question:

How long is the guarantee on a front door before it would need re-painting? Also why would it keep flaking in some parts despite sanding and re-coating, particularly around beading?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

If flaking is occuring there could be a few possible causes, please can you provide more information and pictures of the areas to [email protected].

questions graham on 2021-09-17 15:32:25
Question:

can you use this product Bradite One eggshell for painting modern kitchen cupboards, that are made of mdf with a coating on top

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming you check for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application, the substrate is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet then yes.

If you are looking for a scuff resistant and scrubbable option assuming you check for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application we can recommend Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 followed by Zinsser Perma-White Interior.

questions Jo on 2021-08-31 07:15:25
Question:

The decorator is wanting to put a primer on my old wood internal staircase so he can see where it needs filling and any imperfections, is it ok to use your ok to use your Bradite One Can on top of normal primer, also which would you suggest best for internal old wood staircase, (you have so many) ie quick drying. Thank you

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Bradite One Can is suitable for both application to bare or previously painted timber and would be classed as a primer/finish. We would not recommend this product be used on any areas that would be walked on.

questions [email protected] on 2021-07-19 14:05:01

questions Sarah on 2021-05-30 10:39:56
Question:

Hello, I see that this can be used for a vinyl wardrobe, can it also be used on vinyl flooring? I have a very small area at the bottom of my stairs that I’d like to paint. Many thanks,

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

We would recommend you test for compatibility and adhesion prior to application as it does not list vinyl as a substrate.

This is not suitable for use on a floor, assuming the vinyl floor is clean, dry, sound, prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet, you also test for compatibility and adhesion prior to application we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR Smooth.

This is available in black, white or clear.

questions Raz on 2020-06-03 11:10:00
Question:

questions Mike Sometville on 2019-02-25 11:29:45
Question:

I have fitted wardrobe which has a vinyl surface finish. Does the vinyl need any prep to ensure adhesion. Thanks

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Bradite One Can would be suitable for painting over vinyl coated wardrobes, clean and degrease using Bradite Industrial Degreaser diluted with 9 parts warm water and scrubbing, rinse with clean water and allow to dry. Apply three coats allowing not less than 1 hour between coats, in the colour of choice.

questions Alistair Spiers on 2019-02-04 14:38:12
Question:

Is it possible to get your one can paint in clear? We have some very old interior wood cladding that the client wants to have a colour wash finish,so we don't want to obliterate the grain with a primer, but do want to block the knots and seal rusty nails.thanks Alistair

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Bradite One Can is not available in clear. Zinsser SealCoat would be a good product to try. It will seal the knots and rust stains. It may pay to put a couple of coats on where there are rust stains. You can then apply a colour wash coat over the SealCoat. You may need to do some tests with the colour wash over the Sealcoat.
