High-Performance, Single-Pack, Intumescent Acrylic Sealant

Protecta FR ASF is formulated to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and gases through linear joints and penetrations in fire-rated walls and floors. It is designed to be applied over suitable backing materials to ensure optimal fire resistance and to accommodate joint movement. Available in white, it offers excellent adhesion to most construction substrates and provides significant acoustic insulation benefits.

Applications

Suitable for sealing gaps in fire-rated constructions, including rigid and flexible walls and floors. It is commonly used for:

• Fire-rated walls made of concrete, aerated concrete, masonry, or drywall with steel or timber studs.
• Rigid floors with a minimum thickness of 150 mm.
• Joints up to 50 mm wide in both vertical and horizontal applications.
• Sealing service penetrations, such as cables, pipes, and conduits, with appropriate backing materials.

Restrictions and Limitations

Protecta FR ASF should not be used in permanently damp areas or in joints with excessive movement beyond 7.5%. It should not be applied in direct contact with bituminous materials. For larger apertures and high-movement areas, Protecta FR IPT or FR Board is recommended.

Compatible Products

For enhanced performance, Protecta FR ASF can be used in combination with:

• Protecta FR Board for sealing larger apertures.
• Protecta FR IPT for high-humidity and high-movement applications.
• Protecta EX Mortar for additional fire resistance.

Health and Safety

Protecta FR ASF is classified as non-hazardous under UK regulations but contains 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate, which may cause skin sensitisation. It is not classified as dangerous for transport. Avoid inhalation and skin contact; use appropriate PPE when handling. The product is restricted to professional use. Always follow the safety recommendations provided in the Safety Data Sheet.
