ColourPicker Explained

In general we sort colours for products into 2 main groups - ‘Ready Mixed’ and ‘Tinted’.
Tinted colours will always be more expensive than Ready Mixed colours as they need to be produced at the time of order using a tinting machine dispensing colourant into a base*.
During busy periods, this means that tinted colours could take longer, for example – a ready mixed colour ordered on a 3-5 day delivery might arrive within 3 days, however a tinted colour might take the full 5 days to arrive.

To find Ready Mixed colours, search "ready mixed" or select the Ready Mixed 'colour chart'. To see Tinted colours select a colour chart such as RAL, BS, NCS, etc. or search for a colour/hue to see available or related options.

To ensure fair pricing, we split colours into ‘Price Bands’ to group together similar priced colours. If you wish to search for the cheapest tinted colours, always select Price Band 1.

This product has been designed use as an ideal anti-corrosive primer/finish for structural steelwork with a wide range of colours avaliable.

Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.

Surface Preparation

All surfaces to be coated should be dry and cleaned as necessary to remove all oil, grease, salts, weld flux or other contamination. Where necessary, remove weld spatter and grind smooth all sharp edges and weld seams.
Blast clean to Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007), surface profile 50-75 microns.

Mixing

Must be mixed thoroughly by using a mechanical agitator before use. Agitate periodically to ensure paint remains homogeneous.

Thinner

1006 Thinner

1006 Thinner can also be used to clean equipment.

Application Conditions

Only apply in conditions of good ventilation which must be maintained during drying and curing.
Do not apply when rain, mist, sleet or snow are imminent.
During application and drying time of the paint coating, the surface should be dry, the Relative Humidity should not exceed 85% and the steel temperature should remain at least 3ºC above the dew point.
Paint temperature should ideally be at a minimum of 15ºC.

Airless Spray: Output fluid pressure at tip 2000 psi min., Tip Size 15-19 thou (0.38-0.48 mm).
Thinning of the coating is not recommended as this will reduce the build qualities.
Application by brush/roller will result in a reduced film thickness and is recommended only for small areas of touch up/remedial work.

Product Notes

Overcoating - not applicable. Damaged areas may be touched up after a minimum of 4 hours at 23ºC.
In common with most alkyd primers and primer/finishes, this product is not recommended for extended exterior exposure, exposure in aggressive or coastal locations, or for immersion. Epoxy primers are preferred for these conditions, please consult Axalta Coating Systems for advice.
Some shades may contain lead based colourants and these are labelled (L).
*Colours such as yellows, reds and oranges have lower opacity, especially when produced using lead-free pigments. Two or three coats of these shades may be required, relative to only one coat of a grey or red oxide, so that yellows, bright reds and oranges may not be suitable as one coat systems.
