Description

Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill Waterproofing - Seamless Membrane for Roofing

Dacfill is a water-based liquid membrane designed for the waterproofing of roofs. It forms a seamless, elastic coat that provides excellent waterproofing for sloped roofs, with a minimum slope of 5%. Resistant to harsh weather conditions including UV radiation, acid rain, heat, and frost, ensuring long-lasting protection. Ideal for roofs, chimney slabs, and other surfaces that require a robust waterproof layer.

Features

  • 100% watertight with high-build coating properties.
  • Abrasion-resistant, rubber-like coat without joints or seams.
  • Self-extinguishing and hardly flammable.
  • Can be reinforced with Dacfill-fleece for added durability.

Application Instructions

Before applying Dacfill, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from any debris. For surfaces like roofing or bituminous materials over one year old, Dacfill can be applied directly. For metals such as zinc, galvanised steel, copper, lead, and aluminium, degreasing and slight sanding are recommended before application. Always stir the product thoroughly before use.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for roofs with a slope less than 5% without Dacfill-fleece reinforcement.
  • Do not apply on tar, soft PVC, or bituminous materials less than one year old.
  • Avoid use on surfaces where water stagnation is frequent without proper reinforcement.
  • Not designed for immersion purposes.

Recommendations

For added protection and durability, use Dacfill in combination with Dacfill-fleece, especially on roofs with slight slopes or potential water stagnation areas. Regular maintenance and inspection of the roof coating will ensure longevity and optimal performance.

questions Juan on 2024-09-06 18:24:04
Question:

Can you use this on top of a new resin bound roof terrace? The terrace is letting in rain below.

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

No, this product wouldn't be suitable for this application type as it isn't intended for areas that are walked on such as terraces/balconies.

Additionally, if the surface is a newly applied resin bound that is leaking, it is hard to say that a paint application would rectify this without the cause of the problem being remedied first.

Please e-mail [email protected] with images of the areas leaking and additional details of your project requirements, to allow us to assist with possible alternatives.

Question:

Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill Waterproofing Hello is this product effective if applied to the inside face of the roof. i.e. from inside the garage to the ceiling side rather than climbing up onto an asbestos roof? Thank you

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

No, to provide waterproofing protection it must be applied to the top side of the roof.

questions John Harrison on 2015-09-11 23:34:46
Question: I am building a 4m x 3m summer house which will be attached on one side to a 2.1m x 5m shed. My intention is to roof the summer house with bitumous underfelt then lay a good quality top felt (to match the shed roof). The shed roof is ok, but beginning to show its age (8 yrs). Can the Dacfill be painted over the old felt to give it a new lease of life? And could it be painted over the new underfelt (instead of using a top felt) to match the shed? (or even straight on the new plywood roof?)
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill Waterproofing wouldn't be the product to use but Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ would. Without major complications you're only going to be able to paint the existing shed roof for now. Then when the new summer house roof has aged for more than 12 months you can paint that as well to match.
