Paul on 2022-12-19 10:51:24 | Question:
Is this product suitable for a concrete garage floor that has been treated to a self-levelling compound prior? If OK, would I need to prime/treat the surface prior to the application of the product? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the self leveling compound is suitable to be overpainted, it is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this could be used. We would recommend checking the technical data sheet of the screed used to see if it states it is suitable to be overpainted or used as a wear layer.
Rich on 2021-10-10 23:26:07 | Question:
What size holes will this fill, I have Some small raindrop craters from after the concrete was poured and tamped and a few bits around the edge |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This and any floor paints will not fill imperfections in the floor, assuming the concrete floor is prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet these should be repaired with Rust-Oleum 5412 Epoxy Filler or removed while the floor is ground.
Gordon Fitton on 2021-09-01 19:55:05 | Question:
What is meant by induction time? For Epoxy shield Maxx. Is it waiting time?? Thanks.G.F. Am needing an answer Asap, as doing the garage floor on Thursday September 2nd.early afternoon. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
The induction time is the amount of time the product should be left after mixing before use.
Lee on 2021-08-01 21:12:14 | Question:
I’ve used this for my garage with decorative flakes. Do I need a clear top coat? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No protective topcoat is required following application of Rust-Oleum 5300 Epoxyshield Maxx however should you wish to apply a clear protective topcoat for additional durability and scratch resistance then we could recommend Rust-Oleum 9200 Rust-O-Thane but this must be applied within 7 days otherwise there will be adhesion problems.
Elena on 2021-04-20 17:29:02 | Question:
What type of roler do you recommend to apply this product? I also need a paint tray. Thank you |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We would recommend the Floor Application Kit, this comes with solvent resistant rollers, paint brushes, a mixing paddle, plastic scuttle, roller frame and telescopic pole.
Nicholas Taylor on 2019-02-11 17:11:41 | Question: I have a barn covering 90sqm, the concrete floor was laid last summer. Part of the concrete in the entrance lays outside (10sq m) the rest internal. Which epoxy (or other) floor covering would you advise. It will be subject to vehicle use. Regards Nicholas Taylor |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Most epoxies are not UV stable so we would instead recommend Blackfriar Professional High Traffic Floor Paint which will not chalk or fade on the external areas.
Mick on 2018-09-20 18:14:35 | Question: Can Rust-Oleum Maxx be used on a concrete garden patio area? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: No, for this kind of area we would instead recommend Rust-Oleum Tarmacoat.
Cathy Lister on 2017-10-31 09:41:35 | Question: what is the cure time of the pot life @ 10° C? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Rust-Oleum 5300 Epoxyshield Maxx should be applied when air (ambient) temperature is 15-35ºC and relative humidity is below 80%. Concrete floors take a long time to warm up; make sure the previous day has also been at least 15ºC prior to painting. Minimum floor temperature for painting is 13ºC. Painting in midafternoon At 15ºC you will have around 2 hours of pot life - full details of induction and application times are listed on page 1 of the TDS (Technical Data Sheet) which can be downloaded from the 'DATASHEETS' tab on the product page.
