Description

Tikkurila Temacryl AR 50 is a physically drying, one-component semi-gloss acrylic based topcoat with high film-building properties, able to be applied at sub-zero temperatures and suitable for surfaces exposed to marine or industrial climates and mild chemical stress.

Tolerating temperatures up to +80ºC dry heat, the topcoat is recommended for bridges, cranes, conveyors, harbour equipment, tank exteriors, etc.

  • Specific Gravity: 1.1–1.3 kg / l (depending on colour)
  • VOC:
    • The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 540 g/litre of paint mixture.
    • VOC content of the paint mixture (thinned 15% by volume) is 590 g/l.

Practical coverage depends on the application method, painting conditions and the shape and roughness of the surface to be coated.

Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.



Surface Preparation


Primed surfaces:

  • Oil, grease, salt and dirt are removed from the surface by appropriate means.
  • Repair any damage to the primer coat.
  • Note the overcoating time of primer. (ISO 12944-4)

Application Conditions


  • All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from contamination.
  • The temperature of the ambient air, surface and paint should not fall below -5ºC during application and drying.
  • Relative humidity of the air should not exceed 85% during application and drying.
  • The surface temperature of steel should remain at least 3°C above the dew point.
  • Good ventilation and sufficient air movement is required in confined areas during application and drying.



Application


  • Stir the product carefully before use.
  • For airless spraying, the product is thinned approximately 0–15%.
  • Recommended nozzle tip is 0.013"–0.019" and pressure 120–180 bar.
  • Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
  • For brush application product should be thinned according to the circumstances.
