Application and Usage
Before applying Metalcote Plant Enamel, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Existing painted surfaces should be cleaned, degreased, and sanded to ensure a strong bond. This product should be applied in well-ventilated areas, following standard painting practices. Avoid application in high humidity or low temperatures as these conditions can adversely affect the drying time and final finish. Always refer to the downloadable data sheet for detailed application instructions.
Restrictions and Limitations
Do not use on surfaces that require flexibility beyond the standard industrial machinery applications. It is not suitable for use on substrates that will be immersed in water or exposed to highly corrosive environments. Additionally, do not apply in confined spaces without proper ventilation due to the presence of VOCs. It is recommended to avoid use in direct contact with food-related surfaces. Always follow safety guidelines provided on the data sheet.
Recommended Products
For best results, it is recommended to use Metalcote Undercoat before applying this enamel to ensure maximum adhesion and durability. For additional protection, especially in harsh environments, consider using a clear coat finish that is compatible with Metalcote Plant Enamel. Always refer to the manufacturer's recommendations for compatible products.

Questions
Question about the product
Sturdye on 2020-06-27 08:11:20 | Question:
Hi is the metalcote undercoat and top coat enamel, suitable for drain pipes? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the drain pipes are steel, clean, dry and previously painted we can recommend Teamac Metalcote Undercoat and Teamac Metalcote Plant Enamel. If it is bare metal then we would recommend Teamac Rapidry HB Zinc Phosphate Primer followed by Teamac Metalcote Plant Enamel.
RobertTurner on 2020-06-16 19:51:12 | Question:
HI can i use Teamac to paint my steel narrowboat with a roller? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the paint is for above the waterline, the steel is dry, clean and sound we would recommend Teamac Marine Undercoat followed by Teamac Marine Gloss. This is available in many RAL and BS colours.
David Smith on 2018-10-22 09:10:19 | Question:
I am refurbishing a Belle cement mixer. I have removed all flaking paint and keyed original paintwork and primed all surfaces as well as bare metalwork with a grey acrylic spray primer. I want to apply further paintwork by brush as spraying is messy.I feel that your Teamac Metalcote would be good, however should i need to use your suggested undercoat before applying the top coats of gloss RAL 2004. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Teamac Metalcote Undercoat could be used prior to application of Teamac Metalcote Plant Enamel and would improve the finish/durability of the finished system but should you choose to, Teamac Metalcote Plant Enamel could be applied directly to your previously painted, prepared surfaces.
