Description

Temalac SC-F 80 is a glossy high-solids single-coat alkyd paint containing anti-corrosive pigments, recommended as a single coat system for blast cleaned steel surfaces, both indoors and outdoors, for steel framework, service platforms and different types of machinery and equipment.

The product has MED (Marine Equipment Directive) certificate no VTT-C-11978-15-17 and is thus accepted for painting surfaces inside ships

Practical coverage depends on the application method, painting conditions and the shape and roughness of the surface to be coated.

Surface Preparation


Oil, grease, salts and dirt are removed by appropriate means. (ISO 12944-4)

Steel surfaces:

Blast clean to grade Sa2½. (ISO 8501-1)

Primed surfaces:

Oil, grease, salt and dirt are removed from the surface by appropriate means.

Repair any damage to the primer coat. Note the overcoating time of primer. (ISO 12944-4)

Application Conditions


  • All surfaces must be clean and dry and free from contamination.
  • The temperature of the substrate should not fall below 5°C during application and drying.
  • Relative humidity of the air should not exceed 80% during application and drying.
  • The surface temperature of steel should remain at least 3°C above the dew point.
  • Good ventilation and sufficient air movement is required in confined areas during application and drying.

Application


  • In order to obtain an even, non-porous finish, spray a misty coat: first a thin layer, then let the solvents evaporate for 3–5 minutes and then apply the full coat.
  • Stir the product carefully before use.

For air-assisted airless spraying:

  • The product is thinned approximately 5-15%.
  • Recommended nozzle tip is 0.011"–0.013" and pressure 160–200 bar.
  • Atomising air pressure should be 2 bar.
  • Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.

  • For heated airless spraying: 
  • Product is thinned approximately 5–15%.
  • Recommended nozzle tip is 0.011"–0.013" and pressure 160–200 bar.
  • Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.

  • For conventional spraying:
  •  The product is thinned approximately 5–10%. Recommended nozzle tip is 1.6–1.8 mm and pressure 3–4 bar.
