Description

Britannia Chlorinated Rubber Paint, a topcoat with good resistance to salt water and a wide range of chemicals and acids.

Britannia Chlorinated Rubber Paint is ready for use for waterproofing roof cladding, tank linings, swimming pools, plant rooms and dairies.

Spreading Rate


These will vary depending on substrate, the site conditions and longevity required.

Typically spreading rates will vary depending on the end use.

  • Stir well before use
  • Do not thin
  • 8-12 sqm2/litre per coat by Brush or Roller (Solvent Resistant Roller)
  • Airless Spray: Thin 5% with Britannia Special solvent
  • Nozzle size: 017 thou - 21 thou are recommended at 150 BAR.
  • Should be applied at 5°C or above

Note: Low temperature and humidity will adversely affect application, drying and performance of any coating.



Preparation


  • Surfaces to be painted should be free from nibs, cavities and other imperfections.
  • Mould, oil stains, if any, must be removed.
  • Moisture content of concrete should be below 14% prior to application of any coating.
  • Concrete and render should be treated with an Acid Etch prior to painting to remove any dirt and laitance and to create a good “key” for the paint.
  • Apply a 10% thinned coat of the Britannia Chlorinated Rubber Paint to prime and seal the surface prior to applying any unthinned coats.
  • Surfaces previously painted with Britannia Chlorinated Rubber Paint that are in good condition can be scrubbed clean and the surface roughened to help adhesion of the new coating.
  • Old perished Chlorinated Rubber coatings should be removed mechanically and treated as new substrate and prepared accordingly.



Application


  • Please follow the Coverage rates shown in Spreading Rate Section.
  • Apply between 5°C - 30°C.
  • As dictated by normal good painting practice. In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during the application and drying.



Cleaning


  • Remove as much Chlorinated Rubber paint as possible from application equipment before cleaning.
  • For cleaning equipment use Britannia special solvent (not white spirit).



Shelf Life & Storage


  • Up to one year in an unopened original container at moderate temperatures.
  • Store in a safe place in accordance with the instructions in section 7 of the relevant MSDS sheet.



Precautions


  • Flammable keep away from sources of ignition.
  • Ensure good ventilation during application.
  • Wear gloves, goggles and suitable protective clothing.
  • In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
  • Remove splashes from the skin with a recognised hand cleaner or plenty of soap and water.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not use near fishponds.
  • Harmful to aquatic organisms. May cause long term adverse effects in the aquatic environments.
  • Do not empty into drains.
