Teamac High Performance 2 Pack Zinc Phosphate Primer
A two-pack epoxy zinc phosphate primer, engineered for providing exceptional corrosion resistance in challenging marine environments, both above and below the waterline. It offers a high-performance solution for protecting marine vessels and structures, ensuring durability and long-term protection against harsh conditions. Available in Grey and Red, this primer delivers an eggshell finish that serves as a robust base for further coatings.
Application Areas
This primer is highly versatile and is suitable for a wide range of marine applications. It is ideally suited for yachts, power boats, dinghies, narrowboats, cruisers, and commercial vessels. The product can be applied on various surfaces, including wood, GRP, steel, and aluminium, provided they are suitably prepared. The primer ensures a strong bond, particularly when applied to blast-cleaned steel, making it an excellent choice for high-performance marine applications.
Application Guidelines
- Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, or contaminants before application.
- For best results, apply to blast-cleaned steel surfaces. Mechanical cleaning may be used where blast cleaning is not possible.
- Mix 3 parts base with 1 part activator, ensuring thorough mixing to avoid soft spots or uncured coatings. Do not thin for airless spray applications.
- Apply using airless spray or brush, with a nozzle pressure between 1800-2300 psi.
- Avoid application when ambient temperature is below 5°C or relative humidity exceeds 80-90%.
- Not suitable for use as a weld-through primer or in confined spaces without adequate ventilation.
Compatibility
The primer is compatible with most marine coatings and various antifoulings. It can be overcoated with both single-pack and two-pack materials, making it a flexible choice for a complete marine coating system. For best results, always refer to the specific overcoating intervals provided in the technical data sheet.
Limitations
This primer should not be applied at temperatures below 5°C, and drying times will be prolonged at temperatures below 10°C. It is crucial to maintain proper ventilation during application, especially in confined spaces. Additionally, this product should not be used as a weld-through primer, as it is not designed for that purpose. If the primer is not mixed thoroughly, the coating may not cure correctly, leading to performance issues.
Recommended Products
For optimal results, consider using Teamac Marine High Performance Gloss as a topcoat for this primer. Additionally, Teamac antifoulings are recommended to provide comprehensive protection against marine growth and enhance the longevity of your vessel's coating system.
