Questions
Question about the product
Robin Kench on 2024-11-05 12:32:15 | Question:
Good afternoon We are currently in the process of having a steel building erected at one of our regional depots. The building company has stated that we need to board the columns (cold rolled steel). I enquired about using your Thermocoat intumescent paints paint as an alternative to boarding and was told that it wouldn't be suitable. Could you advise me if this product could be used on cold rolled steel columns? thanks in advance. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes the primer can be applied to cold rolled steel, but cold rolled steel cannot be protected with an intumescent paint system. Assuming no level of fire protection is required, assuming the steel is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical datasheet, you could consider priming with Rust-Oleum 769/780 Damp-Proof Rust Primer, before 2 coats of Rust-Oleum 7500 Alkythane to finish, in your choice of 4400+ RAL, BS or NCS Colours in a Satin or Gloss finish. | |
