Description

Coo-Var Hammercote Hammered Finish

This single-pack, fast-drying enamel paint is specifically formulated to create a hammered metallic finish on a variety of metal surfaces. It is ideal for enhancing the appearance of wrought iron, cast metal parts, toolboxes, and machinery, offering not only aesthetic appeal but also protection.

Key Features

  • Durability: The enamel provides a robust and durable finish that is resistant to environmental factors and heat up to 150°C. It ensures long-lasting protection and maintains its metallic sheen even under harsh conditions.
  • Easy Application: Designed for both brush and spray application, this product can be applied directly to prepared metal surfaces. For optimal results, it is recommended to apply a mist coat followed by a full coat within 2-4 minutes.
  • Fast Drying: With a drying time of just a few hours, the enamel allows for quick project turnaround. The product achieves full hardness after several days, making it ready for heavy-duty use.
  • Versatile Use: Suitable for various metal surfaces, including wrought iron and machinery, this enamel is perfect for both industrial and DIY projects. It can be applied directly without the need for thinning, ensuring a consistent finish.

Application Guidelines

Before applying, ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and any other contaminants. For bare steel, blast cleaning to SA 2½ is recommended. If blast cleaning is impractical, mechanical cleaning should be employed, though it may not achieve the same level of surface preparation. During application, provide adequate ventilation, especially in confined spaces.

Restrictions and Limitations

  • This product is not suitable for use on conventional paints or surfaces that have not been properly prepared. It should not be applied to surfaces that cannot withstand the heat generated during the curing process.
  • Do not thin the product for spray application, as this may compromise the finish quality. Additionally, avoid applying more than one coat after the initial curing period of four hours, as this can affect the enamel's adhesion and durability.

Recommendations

For best results, pair this enamel with a suitable primer, such as the Rapidry Zinc Phosphate Primer, for enhanced adhesion and corrosion resistance. If additional coatings are required, ensure they are applied within the recommended timeframe to prevent any curing issues. Always refer to the downloadable data sheet for more detailed application instructions and safety information.
