Bonda G4 Pond Sealer Clear is a moisture-cured polyurethane, which forms a non-porous seal on concrete, brick, or porous stone. G4 uses the moisture in the air and substrate to cure or harden. It can be applied onto slightly damp substrates.
However, it is important that the substrate is sufficiently dry to be porous to enable the first coat of G4 to bond and obtain a mechanical grip. G4 can be applied in poor weather conditions, high humidity and at temperatures down to 0°C. G4 seals out lime.

Questions
Question about the product
Kevin Hoines on 2022-08-24 11:54:22 | Question:
Can G4 be used on wood? I.E. we have a community carved oak log that has a bird bath, can I use it on the bird bath area to make it waterproof. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no, this is for use on concrete, brick or porous stone.
Bruce Ward on 2022-04-11 14:18:23 | Question:
I bought G4 sealant as it is recommended by pond experts for sealing junctions in ponds between liner and concrete. I have used concrete paving stones (smooth) instead of facing brick and mortared between the joints. However reading the instructions carefully I find the product is not recommended for concrete blocks and also that mortar should be allowed to cure for 21-28 days before application. Could you answer the following: Why is G4 not suitable for paving brick? I sit because this is non-porous? Can I still use it to seal the mortar? Do you have any alternative solutions/products? The only other product I have found for waterproofing paving blocks is Everbuild 409 Bodyguard, which is an acrylic based formulation. I assume one cannot coat over a acrylic coat with your polyurethane product. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Bonda G4 Pond Sealer requires a slightly rough surface in order to penetrate and mechanically interlock with said surface, however Bonda G4 Pond Sealer is not a masonry filler, so any large voids or cracks must be filled first. Since the product is solvent-based and could interact adversely with other products we do not recommend the use of Bonda G4 Pond Sealer with other products without some sort of compatibility testing. Another product to consider could be N-Virol Superseal Plus Damp Proofing DPM Paint, however again you would need to test for suitability for your own requirements/project.
Luke Loades on 2022-04-03 23:14:35 | Question:
Hi, Can this product be used to seal a waterfall that already serves a functioning pond with fish in? Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes assuming the waterfall is made of concrete, this is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this can be used. It should be applied in the same way as if it was a pond, we would recommend for application and curing the pond is also drained with the fish removed.
