Questions
Question about the product
Clive on 2024-06-06 16:29:42 | Question:
I am doing some car repairs 1. Is this suitable for Zintec sheet steel? 2. Can this be used as a weld through primer? If not do you recommend a compatible weld through primer thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no this is not suitable for application to zintec steel. For a weld through primer you could consider Jotun Muki AC. This is a shop primer for high welding and cutting speed.
Greg Fielder on 2024-06-03 16:23:04 | Question:
What colour is the rust primer and do you also sell an exterior gloss piller box red paint. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Bonda Rust Primer is a Red Oxide coloured Primer, designed to prevent rusting for a long-term protection, leaving a primed surface ready to paint with most types of paint. To check for compatibility and adhesion, you could overpaint with Rust-Oleum CombiColor Original, you would need to apply to a small test area firstly before full application. Alternatively, for a tested system, a primer coat of Rust-Oleum 3369/3380 CombiPrimer Anti-Corrosion followed by two coats of Rust-Oleum CombiColor Original could also be applied for suitably prepared steel.
Stephen Ravenscroft on 2024-04-05 16:27:40 | Question:
Is this primer suitable for steel radiators? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for your enquiry. This primer is generally used for application to vehicle bodywork, however assuming the radiator is steel that is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical datasheet, you can apply to a radiator, however we would recommend to apply to a small test area firstly to check for comaptibility.
David Sheppard on 2023-02-18 11:48:53 | Question:
Hi. I have found a cast iron hopper dated 1867…! Found it in my local woods. I have wire brushed it down to remove as much rust as possible and is now looking good. Am thinking of applying Bonda primer. Would this work on cast iron. How much do you think I would need. Thinking of just 1 litre tin. Thanks fir your advice. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the hopper is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet with as much of the rust removed as possible this could be applied. The coverage rate for this product is 7m² per litre per coat.
Lionel Thorne on 2023-02-13 17:44:07 | Question:
I intend to use Bona Primer as a primer on a Land Rover chassis. In places the chassis is quite rusty and I had intended to first treat that rust with a rust converter such as Ku Rust. I have read somewhere that Bona Primer should be applied direct to the rust and that rust converters should not be used. Is this correct? Many thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Bonda Rust Primer can be applied directly to rust, but that said the rust should be (mechanically) removed/reduced to present as a flat a surface as possible for priming. We would not recommend the use of a rust converter with this product.
Terry Guy on 2022-11-26 13:27:46 | Question:
Can Bonda Primer be use on galvanised steel sheet? Many Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no this is not suitable for application to galvanised steel.
robert on 2021-07-30 12:28:26 | Question:
What colour Is it? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This primer is red. | |
