Hydrosil is a highly reflective Fluid Applied Professional Grade Silicone Coating System used to coat all existing roofing substrates.

HYDROSIL PROFESSIONAL LIQUID SILICONE ROOF COATING is a professional grade 100% Silicone roof coating. This product is a high performance, solvent based, high solids, single component, moisture cure liquid applied silicone coating. HYDROSIL Professional liquid silicone is an elastomeric yet vapour permeable membrane exhibiting outstanding weathering and water resistance for application to most common roofing substrates.

HYDROSIL SEAM SEALER & DETAILER is a premium silicone multi-purpose mastic for detailing work & to cover all joints/seams prior to the application of Hydrosil (suitable for all roofing substrates). Upon cure, Seam Sealer & Detailer forms a durable, breathable and weatherproof barrier that is highly resistant to degradation from UV and natural weathering.

HYDROSIL HEAVY DUTY REINFORCEMENT ROLL is non-woven, spun bonded 100% polyester and used with HYDROSIL SEAM SEALER & DETAILER to reinforce seams, penetrations, joints or transitions that are subjected to high shear.

Cromar HydroSil Seam Sealer & Detailer is a professional grade high performing seam sealer & detailer for the protection of seams, penetrations, and fasteners on various architectural surfaces and roofing substrates. Upon cure, it forms a durable, breathable and water‐resistant barrier that is resistant to degradation from UV and natural weathering.

Surface Preparation

• Preparation of the roof substrate is the responsibility of the installer
• Examine substrates to receive new roofing
• Do not proceed with the installation of the Coating System until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected
• All areas that are to be coated or repaired must be clean, dry and free of dust, dirt, grease, wax, or other incompatible substances to promote satisfactory adhesion
• It may be necessary to power wash and/or prime to enhance adhesion
• Can be applied by trowel or stiff brush
• Product should be applied as received and dilution with solvent is not recommended
• If settling in the package has occurred, stir or shake the material well prior to use
• Can be applied over surfaces that exhibit ponding water, however it is advised that all roof systems be designed and built to ensure positive drainage
• Can be used in conjunction with the Hydrosil Reinforcement Roll

Application

Flashing Application & Repair With Cromar HydroSil Seam Sealer & Detailer:

• All flashing details, penetrations and curbs shall be covered with HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer at 3‐4mm thick and shall be feathered at the edges for the water to flow over the various flashing details

Blisters/Splits:

• Large splits/blisters are required to be repaired, use HydroSil Heavy Duty Reinforcement roll fabric with HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer Seam Sealer at 1.5 ‐ 2mm thick in a three‐course fashion and spread to 5cm to 10cm beyond the splits/blisters areas

Roofing Felt Repair:

• Thoroughly inspect the roof substrates for defects (holes and openings)
• For repairs over 3mm wide, use HydroSil Heavy Duty Reinforcement roll fabric with HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer Seam Sealer at 1.5cm thick in a three‐course fashion and spread to 5cm to 10cm beyond the repaired areas

Roof Drains:

• Remove clamping ring and clean all existing build‐up from around the drains and sumps
• Apply HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer across the entire drain/sump area
• Extend the application into the drain bowl from centre of drain onto the deck 15cm beyond drain sump
• Allow to cure
• Replace clamping ring
• The silicone coat application shall be applied over the HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer

Curb Flashings:

• All curb flashings shall be dressed in at least a 5cm wide x 3‐4 mm thick HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer

Fasteners:

• Encapsulate all fasteners using HydroSil Seam Sealer and ensuring a water-tight seal from the base to the top of the fastener

Penetrations:

• HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer shall be applied around the base of the penetration, extending at least 10cm onto the vertical and 10cm onto the base
• Use additional HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer as necessary to accommodate the shape of the penetration

Seams:

• All seams and areas around roof protrusions (vents, scuttle hatches, etc.) are to be treated with HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer at 3‐4cm thick to achieve a water-tight reinforced seal

Pitch Pans:

• Pitch pans shall be covered using HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer

Curbed AC Units:

• All curb flashings shall be covered with at least a 5cm wide x 3‐4mm of HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer
• The perimeter shall be flashed with HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer

Skylights:

• All exposed skylight fasteners shall be covered with HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer
• All curbed corner joints shall be covered with HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer at least 5cm wide x 3‐4mm thick

NOTES:

• Inspect Preliminary Work / Flashing Details for problem areas (e.g., gaps, cracks, fish mouths, air pockets, etc.) before proceeding to the application of HydroSil Seam Sealer and Detailer. See Hydrosil Application Guide for further details.
• To ensure a uniform build and thorough coverage it should typically be applied in one application
• If applying in multiple applications, allow adequate time between each application for curing before applying additional material
• Final cured thicknesses must be free of voids, pinholes, cracks or blisters

Cleaning

• Clean equipment containing uncured material with mineral spirits, toluene, or alcohol based solvents
• DO NOT USE water

Curing

• Tack Free in 2 hours
• Dry to Touch in 6 hours
• Drying time is dependent on temperature, humidity and film thickness

Limitations

• Do not apply at ambient temperatures lower than 4°C
• Ensure that all surfaces are not wet or damp and that rain is not imminent during the application time, or for at least an hour after application
• Should not be applied to unprepared surfaces including but not limited to those that are wet, dusty, oily, mildewed, heavily chalked, blistered or otherwise structurally unsound
• Asphaltic or bituminous substrates may cause discoloration or bleeding of the mastic
• Requires atmospheric moisture for propagation of cure thus it is not suitable for use in totally confined spaces
• It is the user’s responsibility to ensure suitability for use
• Read product label and application guide thoroughly before use

Storage & Shelf Life

• Shelf life of 18 months from date of manufacture when stored in original, unopened containers between 1 and 23°C
• Store in a well‐ventilated place
• Can be stored in unheated warehouses during the cooler months without the risk of freezing
• Keep cool
• Store locked up
