This floor sealer is a single-component, clear coating specifically designed to protect and prevent dusting on various surfaces such as concrete, wood, metal, and GRP. Its semi-gloss finish provides a sleek appearance while offering robust protection. The product is ideal for both interior and exterior applications, ensuring long-lasting results with minimal maintenance required.
Application and Usage
This product is easy to apply using a brush or roller. For optimal results, it is recommended that surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants before application. Concrete surfaces should be roughened for better adhesion, using mechanical or chemical methods such as Coo-Var Acid Etch. A 10% thinned coat of this sealer should be used as a primer where necessary, with additional coats applied for enhanced durability.

- Recoat time: minimum 16 hours
- Full hardness: 5-7 days at 20°C
Restrictions and Limitations
This floor sealer should not be applied in confined spaces without adequate ventilation or in high humidity or low-temperature environments, as this will negatively affect drying times and performance. Avoid using on surfaces that are not adequately prepared, or where moisture may be present. Do not apply in areas exposed to open flames or heat sources as the product is flammable. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results and safety.
Recommended Products
For enhanced surface preparation, it is recommended to use Coo-Var Acid Etch on concrete surfaces to ensure the best possible adhesion. Additionally, if a subsequent coat is required, Coo-Var Floor Paint is an excellent option for added durability and aesthetic appeal.

Questions
Question about the product
Carol on 2020-11-29 22:15:30 | Question:
Is there a minimum temperature for using this paint? I have prepared the garage floor but now the temperature has dropped to around 2C and I’m not sure if this is ok. (I realise it will affect the drying time of course) |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We would not recommend application at those temperatures. The surface temperature of the substrate should at least 10°C.
A on 2020-04-08 08:53:43 | Question:
Can this be applied to a kitchen floor that has already been sealed using Blackfriar Professional Water Based Floor Sealer? If no, can you recommend any clear floor coating that could be used in this circumstance? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Coo-Var Floor Sealer is designed to be used on bare surfaces to seal the surface for the prevention of dusting. This can be used as a finishing coat on bare surfaces. We would recommend removal of the previous coating prior to use. If you wish to try it over the previous coating, abrade and clean the surface prior to testing compatibility on a small area first.
Dan on 2019-07-08 07:29:29 | Question:
I applied this to a newly self leveled floor 36 hours ago and it has turned the floor green. I am assuming some reaction has occurred to cause this. Any advice? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We would need to exactly which self levelling product was used to be able to advise, could you forward data sheets to our Technical Team to review on [email protected]
Andy on 2019-04-01 11:42:56 | Question:
Could this be used to seal an outdoor concrete area which has been painted with masonary paint? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Provided that the Masonry paint is in good condition, sound, well adhered and is thoroughly cleaned beforehand, this should be fine.
josie on 2019-03-24 15:30:05 | Question:
could this be used to coat over natural slate tiles ? I just moved house and the floor in the kitchen is natural slate. its constantly rubbing away. I know I can seal it but this means doing it every 6 months and I just don't have the time for it. I like the floor though and don't particularly want to get a whole new floor. I watched a video a while back someone doing some crazy flooring and it was topped with some gloss type looking stuff to finish. I was hoping this would do the same thing but over my slate tiles so I can just use it like a normal floor ??? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortuantely Coo-Var Floor Sealer would not be suitable for this application.
Graham Burton on 2019-02-26 20:06:28 | Question:
What does "suitably prepared concrete" mean please? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants. Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint. This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically, using Coo-Var Acid Etch. These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance. New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months.
