Questions
Question about the product
Dee on 2024-09-26 13:59:47 | Question:
Hi, I have used a waterproof silicone to fill in gaps on my aluminium garage roof, can I used this product on top for extra protection. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, this product wouldn't be recommended for use over a silicone based product due to a lack of adhesion. Assuming the surface is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical datasheet, you could consider Cromar Hydrosil Silicone Roof Coating as a suitable alternative.
Stephen Carroll on 2024-08-12 15:59:41 | Question:
Can this product be applied directly to the top of a concrete council house door canopy? I'm looking to prevent water being absorbed into the canopy on the top side, which finds it's way to the underside of the concrete door canopy, ruining the paint finish. Also, can the product be painted over with a good quality masonary paint? Thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the concrete canopy is clean, dry, sound, free from all surface contaminants and is prepared as detailed in the technical datasheet, this product could be applied to the canopy, helping to prevent the water absorption. We would suggest to check the flashing as this may also be the cause. However, it isn't designed to be overpainted with masonry paint once applied, for general maintenance you can re-coat with this product as/when required.
Ian on 2023-11-10 02:05:22 | Question:
If you use this product to temporarily seal anewly boarded roof prior to rubberised . Will the adhesive to secure rubber membrane adhere to it .Thanks. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
For this type of application, Cromar Cromapol wouldn't be suitable as the adhesion properties of the rubber will not stick to this product, and will repel the moisture.
Trevor Mellor on 2023-09-20 17:56:07 | Question:
Could I paint over the cracks and use the fibreglass scim first the let it dry . Then coat the complete concrete pad. Can I also redo this after a couple of years? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for the enquiry, please can you contact [email protected] with more information and pictures of the roof in question so we can assist.
Paul Baker on 2023-02-26 21:09:33 | Question:
Can this be used on a concrete roof if so does it need primer |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the concrete roof is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this can be applied directly without a primer.
Keith Colbourne on 2023-02-20 13:43:04 | Question:
Hi, I have applied a thick Chromapol coating on the 5" inside upstand and 5" on the inside Asphalte floor of a conservatory door entrance, approx 1 mtr wide. What can l permanently put over the sticky Chromapol so the vinyl floor laying over, won't stick to it? Thought of adhesive backed aluminium tape Chromapol is and absolutely "Brilliant" product. Thank you Keith |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately we would not recommend this product for this application, it is designed as an emergency roof repair product. This stays tacky to the touch and we do not have a product to recommend to over paint this.
Tony Edwards on 2022-11-24 13:39:48 | Question:
Could this product be used to waterproof around the floor edge of a mobile home? This would be applied underneath to create a seal between plywood (the side) and dense chipboard (the floor) and would not be overprinted. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for the enquiry, please can you provide more information and pictures of the areas in question to [email protected] and we can assist with a recommendation.
Graham Kiely on 2022-04-05 16:07:58 | Question:
Can you tell me what type of roller I can use, short or long hair/ or sponge |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We would recommend a medium pile roller such as these Roller Sleeves.
William guthrie on 2022-02-24 17:17:29 | Question:
Hello Would this be OK to use as an undercoat on plywood to make it waterproof, which would then have two coats of finish paint.? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, this is not designed to be overpainted.
Jason on 2021-10-30 09:43:28 | Question:
Hi is this suitable for a whole flat roof |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the substrate is compatible, not trafficked, yes it can be used for a whole flat roof. If you are looking for a longer lasting solution with the benefit of guarantee's we also stock a range of kits here.
Mike Conway on 2021-09-16 09:26:14 | Question:
I have treated the required area of my caravan roof and have a small amount left over, would it benefit from a 2nd coat once 1st coat is dry. Thanks, regards, Mike |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
The recommended coverage rate is 1-2kg per m² we would recommend applying it at this rate, but a second coat can be applied once dry.
