Teamac Teamalak High Performance Varnish

Teamalak High Performance Varnish is a premium-grade, two-component polyurethane varnish designed for the marine industry. Engineered for high durability, it delivers exceptional resistance to scratches, UV damage, and environmental wear, making it an ideal solution for protecting wooden, steel, and aluminium surfaces on various marine vessels. Its clear, high-gloss finish enhances the natural beauty of the materials while providing a protective layer that can withstand harsh maritime conditions.

Applications

This varnish is suitable for a wide range of marine applications, including yachts, powerboats, dinghies, narrowboats, cruisers, and commercial vehicles. It can be applied on properly prepared wood, steel, and aluminium surfaces, ensuring excellent adhesion and long-term protection. However, it is not suitable for application over existing solvent-based coatings. Before applying, ensure that all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from contaminants, and that wooden surfaces are adequately sanded to provide a proper key for the varnish.

Application Instructions

The varnish must be mixed thoroughly before application. The two components, base and activator, should be combined using a slow-speed electric mixer for at least two minutes to ensure uniform consistency. Application can be done using a brush, short nap mohair roller, or airless spray, with a recommended nozzle size of 0.013" and pressure between 1800 to 2000 psi. The varnish should be applied at temperatures between 5°C to 30°C, with a minimum recoat time of 16 hours and a maximum of 72 hours between coats. Full cure is achieved within 5 to 7 days.

Limitations and Restrictions

It is important to note that Teamalak High Performance Varnish should not be applied over conventional solvent-based varnishes or paints. Additionally, while the product does not emit free isocyanates during brush or roller application at ambient temperatures, precautions must be taken when spraying or working in elevated temperatures, as it can release small amounts of isocyanates. Spraying should only be performed in a controlled environment with adequate ventilation or air extraction, and appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn.
