Application Areas
- Garages
- Warehouses
- Showrooms
- Corridors
- Indoor car parks
- Workshops
Pegakote is designed for indoor use on both floors and walls. Its superior resistance to abrasion and hot tires makes it particularly suitable for areas subject to heavy wear and tear.
Application Instructions
For optimal results, ensure the substrate is dry, clean, and free from ascending humidity. Follow these steps:
- Use primers like Rust-Oleum 3333 or Rust-Oleum 3366 on tiles and power-floated concrete.
- For normally porous concrete, dilute Pegakote by 10%.
- Apply the mixed Pegakote with a brush, roller, or airless spray. Dilute the first coat with water as specified and apply subsequent coats undiluted.
- Maintain application conditions between 8°C and 80% RH.
Always mix the two components thoroughly for at least 3 minutes to ensure homogeneity.
Performance and Safety
Pegakote is engineered to offer exceptional performance:
- Abrasion resistance with minimal weight loss after 1000 cycles.
- Low VOC content (1 g/l) ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Easy maintenance with water-based cleaning.
For safety, always wear appropriate eye and face protection during application. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately and seek medical advice. Pegakote must be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and kept out of reach of children.

Questions
Question about the product
gary atkins on 2019-11-25 12:17:51 | Question:
I have just purchased Rust-oleum Pegakote floor paint, at the moment I have a new concrete base I intend to use the paint on, should I seal the base first or will the paint go straight on? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
The substrate should be dry and clean, free from ascending humidity and sufficiently coherent (tensile strength min. 6kg/cm²). Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote can be applied directly on most mineral substrates (for instance old concrete, tiles, glass etc.). Curing compounds in case of poly-concrete have to be removed by means of sand or grit blasting. On new concrete or non-porous concrete, remove cement grout by sand or grit blasting, treatment with diluted hydrochloric acid at a ratio of 3 litres hydrochloric acid to 10 litres water or with Rust-Oleum Mathys 108 Surfa Etch Solution. For these two last solutions, there is obligation to rinse abundantly and to allow drying through of the surfaces. Porous substrates shall be impregnated with Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote diluted with 10-20% water. Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote may not be applied on an elastic paint coat or a moving substrate.
Richard Branch on 2019-04-24 11:33:53 | Question:
I want to paint my garage floor. It's 20 year old concrete in good condition. I am interested in the self leveling qualities of this product but am confused by the consumption. The floor area is 50 Sq Mtrs. and the product info says use 4kg / Sq Mtr for up to 3mm leveling but that would suggest I require 200 Kg per coat so 400 kg for 2 x coats! Surely that can't be correct? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote is no longer recommended by Rust-Oleum for self-levelling applications, instead we would recommend 306 Self Levelling Floor Coating. To apply a 3mm layer to 50m² you would require 11 x 25kg units.
chris on 2016-11-16 10:43:20 | Question:
Can this floor paint be applied over concrete floorings previously covered with an epoxy paint or a polymer resin paint. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming that the underlying floor substrate is solid with no damages and is not moving in any way, and that the previously (correctly applied and cured) epoxy layer remains in good condition and well adhered to the underlying substrate, then yes Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegakote can be applied on top. In all instances, the existing surface should be thoroughly degreased using a 5% solution of Rust-Oleum Mathys ND14 Cleaner Degreaser and then sufficiently abraded by the most suitable method (e.g. blasting, grinding, etc.)
Ross & Co on 2016-09-27 14:15:57 | Question:
We have recently painted Floors in a University with Rustoleum Pegakote and the client is now asking what type of product they should use to clean the floors .
Regards,
David Ross |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
As a general cleaner we would recommend Rust-Oleum Floor Cleaner.
Jim Mountain on 2016-03-13 21:51:01 | Question:
Can this product be applied directly onto Cementone Cempolay self levelling screed? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
If you have used the standard Cempolay then this is not strong enough to take an epoxy coating, it is designed to be over laid with vinyl, wood floor, tiles, etc. If you have used Cempolay Ultra Strong, then this is strong enough to take an epoxy floor coating and the Pegakote should be fine to be applied after preparation.
Jennifer Holburn on 2015-12-13 21:13:31 | Question:
Which of the epoxy paints is most suitable for painting a wet room floor? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Rust-Oleum 5500 Solvent Free Epoxy would be a good choice assuming the area you have to paint is bare concrete. You might also want to consider adding an anti-slip aggregate into the system for some slip resistance.
