Elastomeric foam laminated with a graphite-based, intumescent compound on both sides. Designed to perform as a fire barrier in construction movement joints, when tested to BS 476 Part 20: 1987. Designed for long linear joint installations in both horizontal and vertical applications it is a flexible and water resistant seal that expands when exposed to heat. The carbonaceous char formed by the graphite prevents the spread of fire through the joint thus ensuring the integrity of the compartment wall/floor is maintained.

Astroflame Intumescent Expansion Joint/Linear Gap Seals are an elastomeric foam laminated with a graphite-based, intumescent compound on both sides. It is designed to perform as a fire barrier in construction movement joints, when tested to BS 476 Part 20: 1987.
Designed for long linear joint installations in both horizontal and vertical applications it is a flexible and water resistant seal that expands when exposed to heat. The carbonaceous char formed by the graphite prevents the spread of fire through the joint thus ensuring the integrity of the compartment wall/floor is maintained.
All expansion and movement joints in a fire separating wall and floor must be fire stopped with a material that will accommodate the require movement whilst providing the necessary degree of fire integrity.
Tested in block wall, concrete and masonry. Tested in concrete floors. Tested in linear joints up to 150mm wide.

I'm hoping to use this product to fill a 50mm gap between concrete and a rainscreen system, will it be able to fit in that gap and can it be painted over afterwards? |

No, this product is only tested for use between blockwork constructions. For this type of application, a ventilated cavity barrier fitted behind rainscreen cladding would be recommended. No, this product has been tested for use in movement joints (expansion joints), normally between 2 concrete/block elements, eg wall to wall, floor to floor, or block wall header to concrete floor soffit. We have no testing data that indicates this product being used diagonally across a staircase. | |
