Provides excellent sealing properties and compatibility with various finishes. Ideal for both professional and consumer use, this product ensures superior performance for a wide range of interior wood surfaces.
Applications
- Doors, trim, skirting boards, panelling, wainscoting
- Cabinets, shelves, furniture, interior shutters
- Floors, stairs, banisters, and spindles
- Wood turnings, figurines, carvings, wicker, plaster, and other hobby/craft items
SealCoat can be used as a pre-stain sealer and wood conditioner, evening the porosity of woods such as pine and fir for even stain penetration. It also serves as a barrier coat to seal odours in certain types of wood and particleboard. However, it is not recommended for exterior surfaces.
Application Instructions
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and sound. Remove any wax with methylated spirits and sand bare wood smoothly. Apply SealCoat with a natural bristle brush, lint-free cloth, or spray. Allow the first coat to dry for 45 minutes before sanding with 120 or finer grit sandpaper. A second coat improves film build and depth on porous woods.
Drying and Cleanup
At 20°C, SealCoat dries to the touch in a few minutes on bare wood and can be sanded and recoated in about 20 to 30 minutes. For subsequent coats, the drying time is reduced to 10 to 15 minutes. Clean up drips and spills with methylated spirits, and use the same for cleaning brushes. Soak tools overnight to dissolve dried product.
Restrictions
Avoid applying SealCoat when the relative humidity is above 85% or when the temperature is within 2ºC of the dew point. Do not use in areas where surface heat exceeds 71°C. Not suitable for exterior surfaces.
Safety Information
Highly flammable liquid and vapour. May cause damage to organs. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and hot surfaces. Store in a well-ventilated place, keep cool, and dispose of contents and container in accordance with local regulations.
Zinsser Bulls-Eye SealCoat is classified as highly flammable (UN1263). Contains no Diisocyanates. Safety precautions include keeping away from ignition sources and using proper ventilation during application.

Hello. Can the seal coat be used directly over previously waxed surfaces without the need to strip the timber surface back? Thank you |
