Kolorbond K2
This two-pack polyurethane (PU) coating offers a highly durable finish suitable for a variety of industrial substrates. Designed specifically for professional use, it provides excellent adhesion and resistance to environmental stressors. Available in multiple gloss levels, the product is versatile enough for both aesthetic and functional applications.
Application and Coverage
The product is suitable for application on metals, GRP, and hard plastics. Prior to application, ensure the substrate is appropriately prepared by cleaning and abrading the surface. The recommended application method is by spraying; however, brush application is also possible with a brushable format. The product has a pot life of 2-3 hours at 20°C, allowing ample time for large projects. Full coverage can be achieved with a film thickness of 80 microns, ensuring a durable layer with just one application.
- Pot life: 2-3 hours at 20°C
- Dry to touch: 1 hour at 20°C
- Full hardness: 16 hours at 20°C (1 hour at 50°C with accelerator)
- Coverage: 14m² per litre at 30 microns
Surface Preparation
Surface preparation is critical to ensure the longevity and performance of the coating. Cast iron and steel should be abraded with 120 grit sandpaper, while GRP, aluminium, and hard plastics should be treated with 320 grit or Scotchbrite. Always degrease and clean surfaces thoroughly before applying the coating. If applying to glass, add the recommended G-pro additive for enhanced adhesion.
Limitations and Recommendations
Do not apply the product to surfaces that are not properly prepared, as this will impact adhesion and durability. Avoid use on flexible plastics or any substrates that may be subject to constant movement, as the rigid nature of the coating may cause cracking over time. The product should not be applied in temperatures below 5°C or above 35°C.

Questions
Question about the product
Mike on 2022-08-31 14:20:29 | Question:
Hello, Is this paint solvent soluble? I previously used this product and the colour was wrong not on your behalf the customers instead. I have since had to locally source the correct white which has been made up in a one pack coat (techno grip) Kind regards Mike |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
If the Kolorbond K2 Set has been allowed to fully cure then there should not be an issue with solvents affecting this. We would recommend contacting "Techno grip" for their advice on overcoating third party two pack products, an area to test for compatability may be required. | |
