Anti Condensation Paint ideal for use on cold walls and ceilings in your home or office which may be susceptible to condensation, mould and heat loss. Other uses include steel frame buildings, metal cladding, garage roofs, shipping containers and as part of an underfloor heating system.
- For internal use only on walls and ceilings - Helps to prevent mould and fungal growth
- Can be overpainted or papered over without affecting the performance (unlike anti-mould paints)
- Can also be painted on cold surfaces - Handrails, metal handles and other cold to touch materials. Retains heat from your hand which makes the painted area feel 'warm'
N-Virol Suretherm Goodbye Mould Thermal Anti Condensation Paint has been specifically designed to reduce condensation from forming on treated surfaces. It forms a thermal barrier on cold walls. Its unique thermal properties make it perfect for use on cold walls and ceilings in your home or office which may be susceptible to condensation, mould and heat loss. Other uses include steel frame buildings, metal cladding, garage roofs, shipping containers and as part of an underfloor heating system.
Glass Microspheres within Suretherm paint helps to maintain surface temperatures on treated substrates. This increases the dew point compared to ordinary emulsion which reduces the chance of condensation from forming.
Independent tests confirm that surfaces treated with Suretherm paint take twice as long to cool down when compared to ordinary emulsion paint. Condensation takes 57% longer to form on Suretherm coated surfaces compared to ordinary emulsion paint.
Suretherm paint can also be painted on cold surfaces such as handrails, metal handles and other cold to touch materials. The paint retains the heat from your hand which makes the painted area feel 'warm'.

How It Works
Application Notes
- Clean mould from surfaces if present with Suretherm Cleaning Spray allowing treated areas to dry completely
- Use a medium pile roller (recommended) and apply 2 coats evenly taking care not to over apply as this may result in a thick, stippled finish
- Coverage - Approximately 8m²/litre per coat (Overall 4m²/litre for the required two coats)
- Occasionally a foam roller may give a smoother final finish. A brush can be used if preferred
- If spray applying, please consult our Technical Department on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected] for the correct specification
- Suretherm can be left as a finish however it is recommended to paint over with a suitable paint of personal choice
- In bathrooms, changing rooms or areas expecting high levels of humidity, a wipeable/scrubbable paint is recommended to finish
- Wallpaper can be applied over the top of Suretherm. If using lining paper, it is recommended to apply the lining paper on the surface first prior to painting with Suretherm
- Available in White. We do not recommend adding coloured pigments or use of mechanical agitators as this could damage the glass microspheres within the paint

Questions
Question about the product
Saley on 2024-01-20 18:32:45 | Question:
Can I use this on enclosed porch walls? Can I then paint over it with a satin emulsion and/or half tile over the application? Thank you |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the walls are internal and previously painted, you can apply this product to the suitably prepared surface. This can be overpainted or papered over with a decorative finish of choice without affecting the performance. In terms of half tiling, there is no reason as to why this can't be applied, however a tiled surface will be naturally cold, therefore condensation may become attracted in the same way as a shower or bathroom.
mark scotcher on 2023-05-12 08:47:01 | Question:
I have mould on an inside bedroom bay wall ,this area has no insulation,so the cold air outside hits the warm air on The wall inside creating condensation. will this assist in stopping mould growth. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Prior to application we would recommend the areas are cleaned down with N-Virol Suretherm Goodbye Mould Cleaning Spray to remove any mould and surface grime. Then 2 coats of N-Virol Suretherm Goodbye Mould Thermal Anti Condensation Paint should be applied. This will aid in the reduction of condensation forming on the treated surfaces. Condensation takes 57% longer to form on Suretherm coated surfaces compared to ordinary emulsion paint.
Eleanor Aitken on 2022-11-18 16:06:53 | Question:
For use on bedroom external wall. I have already papered and painted the wall but need a coating over this to prevent heat loss. I don't want to remove the wallpaper. Do you have a coating/paint that can be placed directly on top of the wallpaper that will prevent the loss of heat Thank you |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes this product would be suitable and it can be applied to a previously painted or wall papered wall. We would recommend testing for compatibility and adhesion on a small area prior to full application.
Gary on 2022-11-01 20:17:30 | Question:
The data sheets says for use on plaster, steel and metal. Will this be suitable on walls with lining paper and emulsion? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes assuming the lining paper is clean, dry and sound it can be used.
James on 2022-08-23 07:26:20 | Question:
Is this suitable for painting an internal ceiling in a small shower room that has problem mould and condensation ? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes this paint can be used in high humidity areas not subject to direct water contact. The substrate must be clean, dry, sound and prepared and detailed in the technical data sheet, which includes removal and treatment of any mould present with N-Virol Suretherm Goodbye Mould Cleaning Spray. Increasing air flow will also help to reduce condensation.
Emma on 2022-05-16 17:28:42 | Question:
Is this suitable for painting on internal stone and brick walls? Some walls are already painted and others are bare stone. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes this can be painted onto internal bare stone or brick walls or over previously painted areas. We would recommend testing for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application.
Geoff on 2022-01-08 22:08:00 | Question:
I want to use this on the ceiling of a outdoor canopy. The area is open but the ceiling will not get any rain on it. The material is painted wood. Will this still work as a thermal barrier. Will it hold on wood? Thanks Geoff. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
No, unfortunately this product is not suitable for this application. It can be used on wood and can be effective in preventing (for example) dripping from a ceiling in a storage container. But not recommended for an external application, as this is exposed to the outside air and temperature it would not have any thermal effect at all.
