Application
For absorbing woods such as pine and fir.
Should not be applied on wood with low absorbing capacity including timber from most hardwood. These may change colour after treatment.
Non-treated wood, new or old, shall be cleaned with a wood cleaning product before application. Oiled, painted or in any other way surface treated wood shall be grinded before application.
The surface of finished OrganoWood-treated wood shall be treated with OrganoWood 02, except at cut sections where OrganoWood Protection 01 also shall be applied.
Perform the treatment on dry wood in at least 10 °C and when there is a small risk of rain, dew or frost. The liquid could react with glass, therefore cover the glass if there is a risk for contact between the liquid and the glass.
- Pour desired amount of liquid in a separate plastic container.
- Apply the product in the direction of the woodfibres with a brush or roller.
- Let dry for 6-10 hours.
- Possible excess liquid on the wood may cause white salt precipitations. These may easily be brushed away using a nylon or steel brush, alternatively sandpaper before continued treatment.
- Finish the treatment with Dirt and water protection.
Test and Classifications
Wood treated with OrganoWood Protection 01 has good flame resistance properties and will obtain an increased resistance to fungal decay. The product's flame resistant properties has been tested in the European test EN13501-1 and has by using surface coating (by dipping) on spruce panel (21×95 mm, 0,33 l/m2) obtained the reaction to fire classification Cs1,d0 in third party tests performed by Swedish SP – technical research institute of Sweden. Several other official tests (ISO 5660) has been performed by SP on spruce and pine, showing the efficacy of the flame retardant properties of the product.
Even though most materials will perform according to standard, there exist almost an infinite number of wooden materials. Therefore, no guarantee can be given, except for the material specified in the classification report (Cs1,d0) from SP, as whether the treated material will perform in the same manner as other material. For classification of materials outside these limits, other tests must be performed. For more information or aid with testing, please contact OrganoWood AB or our technical team on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected].
