These kits are for internal use only on any above ground surface to eliminate mould, algae and fungus. They are safe to use with an environmentally friendly, water-borne formulation which is non-toxic and odour free when dry, as well as being non caustic and non-injurious to the skin.

Landlords face an on-going battle with properties and the infestation of mould which is both unsightly and a health hazard to their Tenants. Re-decoration is expensive, time consuming and disruptive. If Health Inspectors are notified this can also be a real problem to Landlords.

Glixtone Fungi-Shield will not stop condensation or damp, however, when applied it is impossible for mould spores to survive on its surface as the active biocide is distributed evenly over the entire paint film and will continue to kill spores on contact. Glixtone Fungi-Shield offers a long lasting solution to what can be a never ending battle.

Application Instructions

• Completely remove all traces of loose, flaking soft and friable paint back to a clean firm surface by scraping and or washing
• Remove any existing mould growth by scraping or brushing with a stiff fibre brush, (NOT wire)
• During preparation, avoid the inhalation of dust
• Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding
• Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960’s surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead. For further advice, please contact us on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected]
• Make good any surface imperfections to original profile with a suitable filler and allow to dry thoroughly
• Thoroughly abrade any glossy surfaces with glass paper to achieve a good key
• Sterilise affected areas with Glixtone Concentrate Sterilising Solution diluted 5 to 1 with water
• If you wish mark the 240ml container into 5 equal parts which can then be mixed with 1 Litre of water, if you do not need to use 5 Litres
• Allow to dry for 24 hours
• This may leave a ‘STAINED’ area that are Mould SPORES which will grow back very quickly
• On these ‘STAINED’ areas use Glixtone Concentrate Sterilising Solution UNDILUTED using a sponge and protective gloves and wipe over the stained area with the Sterilising Solution but DO NOT WASH OFF
• Metal surfaces: Prime with an appropriate primer and allow to dry or protect with tape
• Clean away all dust and debris from the surface before painting
• Apply two coats of Glixtone Fungi-Shield Wall Coating in your chosen finish and colour at 11-13m² per litre/per coat, depending upon type of surface. This should equate to Wet: 65 microns / Dry: 30 microns
• Allow 4 hours between coats
• Glixtone Fungi-Shield may be thinned by up to 10% by water to all bare areas to be coated, prior to final coats

Important Notes

• Please refer to all product Data Sheets before use
• Particular attention should be taken when using this product, in areas where food stuff, eating utensils or food contact surfaces exist
• If ventilation is inadequate during use, suitable respiratory protection must be worn which is not included in these kits
• Allow 5 days after the final coat of Fungi-Shield has been applied for the paint system to dry before washing/wiping down
• Clean all equipment thoroughly with water immediately after use

Limitations

• Not recommended for use in extremely humid conditions or where frequent scrubbing occurs
• Please Note: If Glixtone Fungi-Shield coatings are over-painted with anything other than Glixtone Fungi-Shield products, the fungicidal properties will be lost

FAQ's

Why does Glixtone Fungi-Shield work and Others Don’t?

Other Fungicidal/Anti-Mould paints use an additive which is mixed into an already made Emulsion Paint. This means that not all of the paint will carry the same amount of the Fungicide which protects against Mould growth.

Glixtone use an Acrylic Resin and their own Fungicide and an Algaecide which forms a thermal barrier to areas subject to varying temperatures and condensation, eg kitchens, bathrooms, shower rooms, bedrooms even Living Rooms etc.

All of the constituents of the paint are added in a formulated process and dispersed to ensure that all the pigments and constituents including UV stabilisers, algaecides, and fungicides are coated evenly in the paint blend to produce a paint that is consistent, stable and which will promote all of its anti-fungal properties.

The paint is tested and fine tuned to ensure that its application properties are fully utilised and the quality is up to our extremely high specification.

This means that the active anti-fungal biocidal components are evenly bonded to the active constituent of the paint to ensure that it is evenly distributed when coated out to prevent mould infestation.

This ensures that every part of Glixtone Fungi-Shield carries the same amount of the active biocide and when applied every part of the surface will be protected.

Do I Need a Stain Block?

Only if there is any other staining apart from Blackspot/Mould on the surface to be painted, such as water damage etc.
