Description

Two-Component Metal Repair Paste

This two-component, solvent-free epoxy repair paste is designed for restoring worn, damaged, or corroded metal surfaces. When the dark grey base and light grey activator are combined, they form a durable mid-grey paste. The product is ideal for industrial, marine, and repair environments requiring high-strength, long-lasting repairs.

Where Can It Be Applied?

This repair paste is suitable for a wide range of metallic substrates, making it ideal for:

  • Worn or damaged pump shafts
  • Cracked engine blocks and valve casings
  • Corroded hulls and rudder surfaces on vessels
  • Leaking tank seams
  • Damaged flanges and hydraulic rams
  • Cold bonding of steel plates

Why Choose This Epoxy Repair Paste?

  • High Build Capability: Can be applied up to 25mm thick without slumping, allowing for substantial repairs.
  • Fully Machinable: Once cured, the paste can be machined for a precision finish.
  • Heat Resistant: Withstands dry heat up to 200°C and immersed conditions up to 60°C.
  • Durable and Strong: Offers excellent tensile, flexural, and compressive strength, ensuring long-lasting repairs.
  • Corrosion and Abrasion Resistant: Proven resistance to corrosion and abrasion for reliable performance.
  • Certifications: Bureau Veritas approved for marine applications and USDA compliant for incidental food contact.

How to Apply the Metal Repair Paste

Follow these steps for effective application:

  1. Surface Preparation: Clean and degrease the surface with MEK or similar solvent. Abrade to ISO 8501/4 ST3 or abrasive blast to SA2.5.
  2. Mixing: Combine the base and activator at a 5:1 ratio by weight or 3:1 by volume until fully blended to a mid-grey colour.
  3. Application: Apply the paste using a spatula or applicator tool, pressing it into gaps and imperfections. Smooth off excess material with a gloved hand.
  4. Curing: Allow to cure for at least 6 hours at 20°C before machining or loading the repaired area.

Limitations and Precautions

  • Not suitable for use on non-metallic surfaces.
  • Ensure surfaces are free from grease and oxidation before application.
  • Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling the product.
  • Do not use in temperatures below 5°C.
