Intulac Ultra Base Coat is designed to form a protective carbon char in the event of fire, delaying the inflammation of the wood. It reduces ignitability of soft and hard wood and other wood derivatives. It also insulates against heat, checks fire, prevents propagation of fire and diminishes flue-gas density and flue-gas temperature.

NB: Bollom Intulac Ultra Basecoat must be overcoated with Bollom Intulac Ultra Topcoat after 48 hours and not more than 4 days.

Pack Contents

Each pack contains:

• 12.5m² - 5lt Bollom Intulac Ultra Basecoat and 500ml Bollom Intulac Ultra Topcoat Matt or Satin

Surface Preparation

Surface must be dry, free from dust, oil, wax, grease, release agents, etc. Wood substrates with wetting difficulties should be roughened thoroughly with abrasive paper. The moisture content of the timber should be below 15%. For particularly resinous or knotty timber apply 1 coat of Zinsser Sealcoat. Application over a maximum of four, well adhered, single coats of existing varnish is possible, sand lightly before applying Intulac Ultra Base Coat.

System Application

To suitably prepared surfaces apply two coats of Bollom Intulac Ultra Basecoat at a coverage rate of 5m²/litre per coat allowing a minimum of 16 hours between coats. Following application of the 2nd coat of Basecoat, allow to dry for 48 hours before applying one coat of Bollom Intulac Ultra Topcoat Matt or Satin. The topcoat should be dry in approximately 6 hours at 20°C – lower temperatures and relative humidity may extend drying times.

In order to obtain a very smooth finish by cutting down wood fibres, light sanding using 150grit sandpaper after the 1st coat of Basecoat is recommended.

Neither the Basecoat or Topcoat should be thinned for application regardless of application method. Natural fine bristle brush or short pile lambs wool roller is recommended.

Application Conditions

Object temperature should not be below 10°C or exceed 40°C. Relative humidity should not exceed 70%. Application temperature shall be at least ≥ 3 K above dew point. In cases where relative humidity may exceed 70%, special measures must be taken to prevent condensation forming during application of the product.

Clean Up

Bollom Intulac Basecoat is water based so any application equipment can be cleaned with water. Bollom Intulac Topcoat is solvent based so any application equipment should be cleaned with Xylene.

Certification

To receive a 'Certificate of Supply' for your purchase, after application of the product, simply complete the online form via the 'Apply For Certification' button HERE. Your certificate should be returned to you within 7-10 working days.
