Fosroc Proofex Cavitydrain PB

2120106
FOS8067

Fosroc Proofex Cavitydrain PB allows the direct application of wet lining systems, increasing usable space in basements by eliminating the requirement for internal blockwork walls or dry lining systems.

A high density polyethylene drained cavity former, used to waterproof below ground structures where Type C (Drained Cavity) protection is required, either as the sole protective measure or in conjunction with Type A (Barrier) or Type B (Integral) waterproofing.

  • Water ingress is contained within a free draining cavity and channelled to an appropriate internal water management system, so that no pressure forms against the internal linings, thereby providing protection against water ingress into usable spaces
  • Can be used to achieve the required grade of protection in accordance with the recommendations of BS8102-2009

Available in 4 grades: Cavitydrain 80, 200, PB & PM20.

Description

Proofex Cavitydrain membranes are manufactured from chemically resistant high density polyethylene in a range of stud depths designed to permit high water flow through a permanent void formed against a substrate. A range of grades are available.

  • Proofex Cavitydrain PB allows the direct application of wet lining systems, increasing usable space in basements by eliminating the requirement for internal blockwork walls or dry lining systems
  • Proofex Cavitydrain 200 is primarily used for horizontal applications, it can also be used in vertical applications where increased membrane stiffness is required
  • Proofex Cavitydrain 80 is a space saving solution for vertical applications in conjunction with internal blockwork walls and dry lining systems
  • Proofex Cavitydrain PM20 is a mesh faced damp proofing membrane applied to internal wall surfaces in above ground areas to provide protection against rising damp. It is particularly suited for areas where intrusion into the habitable space must be minimised, such as doorways and window reveals

To enable a fully compliant system installation, the Proofex Cavitydrain system incorporates a full range of ancillary items including drainage channels, fixings, sealing strips, pumps and anti-lime coating.

Features & Benefits

  • Suitable for new and existing construction projects
  • Acceptable for all water table classifications (low, variable, high) as per Table 1 of BS8102-2009
  • Eliminates increase in structural load due to water pressure
  • Provides a maintainable form of ingress protection
  • Can be specified in conjunction with a monitoring system to provide automatic alerts in the event of pump failure
  • Internal application in a controlled environment reduces risk of defective installation
  • Provides a continuous drainage pathway and vapour barrier
  • Minimal deformation under load maintains drainage performance
  • Conical voids enable high load transfer to structural elements
  • Chemically resistant, unaffected by contaminated substrates and chemicals typically found in groundwater

Applicaton Notes

  • Refer to Proofex Cavitydrain method statement and BBA certificate for full application instructions
  • Application may require the use of Proofex Cavitydrain Pump Kit (SB/DB)Please call 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected] if in doubt
  • For vertical use. Should not be used on floors
  • Place membrane against wall (studs facing wall), at the top left corner use an 8mm masonry drill bit to drill a hole at least 3 cuspations in from the edge in the centre space between 4 cuspations (do not drill through the cuspation itself)
  • Wrap Proofex Cavitydrain Sealing Rope just below the head of a Proofex Cavitydrain Plaster Plug. Alternatively use a Proofex Cavitydrain Plaster Plug Seal. Hammer the Plaster Plug through the membrane into the drilled hole so that it seals into the membrane. After levelling out the membrane, repeat process for top right corner.
  • Apply Proofex Cavitydrain Overtape along the joints. An equal overlaps onto each adjacent length
    should be achieved
  • Plastering / Rendering. General purpose cement or gypsum renovating plasters may be used (British Gypsum Hardwall or Toughcoat are not recommended). Apply plaster / render in a minimum of two coats. Trowel the 1st coat into the cuspations at a thickness of 7 – 10mm and scratch key. After this has cured for at least 7 days, apply the 2nd coat

Note: where the product is applied in vaulted areas, the use of Proofex Cavitydrain Sealing Rope is required instead of Proofex Cavitydrain Plaster Plug Seals.

Limitations

  • Should not be used on floors
  • Not suitable for use in below ground situations where the cavity membrane system cannot be drained
  • Not recommended for external applications
  • Point loading of the drainage sheets should be avoided to prevent localised deformation. E.g. loading bearing walls should be constructed off a load spreading screed / topping or directly off the concrete base. A structural engineer should be consulted for detailed advice
  • Each Proofex Cavitydrain roll weighs approx. 19KG and should be lifted by a minimum of two site operatives
