Features & Benefits
- Easy to clean
- Water-based and non-tainting
- Seamless
- High abrasion resistance
- Resistant to a wide range of commonly used chemicals in the food, dairy and pharmaceutical industries such as concentrated citric acid (fruits), spirit vinegar (50% acetic acid), lactic acid (food & dairy products) and common alcohols (methanol & ethanol)
- Resistant to a wide range of inorganic acids, fuels, hydraulic oils, mineral oils and solvents
- For concrete, polymer modified screeds, grano concrete
Application Notes
- Ideal ambient and substrate temperature range is 15-25ºC to achieve best results
- On new concrete floors, The base should be a minimum of Grade RC30 of BS 8500-2: 2002 and should not contain a water repellent admixture. The surface strength when assessed using a rebound hammer should be above 25 or the surface tensile strength should exceed 1.5 MPa
- For concrete bases in contact with the ground, a damp proof membrane should have been incorporated into the slab design, in accordance with the requirements of CP102 (Code Of Practice For Protection Of Buildings Against Water From The Ground)
- In existing buildings without a functioning damp-proof membrane, the application of a surface-applied membrane should be considered. Hydrostatic pressure may, under certain circumstances, cause adhesive failure between the flooring and the substrate. Where this is likely to occur, such as in areas where the ground water table is higher than the substrate, and where external tanking has not been applied, pressure relief must be provided e.g. by direct drainage
- Apply Nitoprime UR2 at the required rate depending on the texture and porosity of the substrate
- Product should be applied onto tacky primer. The maximum over coating time at 20°C is 48 hours
- Pre mixing of the coloured liquid base component is essential to ensure any light settlement is reincorporated
- Apply with trowel and finish using a steel float and coving trowel
- For maximum chemical resistance and enhanced colour, product should be coated with Fosroc Nitoflor HB300 U when cured
- Coverage rate 1.8 – 2.0 kg/m2 /mm thickness
Limitations
- Do not proceed with application if atmospheric relative humidity is, or is anticipated to be, >90% or if the surface temperature is <3ºC above the dew point
- Application should not commence when the substrate temperature or the ambient temperature is, or is anticipated to be, <5ºC during the application or within the tack-free period. The design strength of concrete surfaces must be a minimum of 25 MPa compressive strength at 28 days
- The manufacture of Fosroc Nitoflor Coving U is a batch process and despite close manufacturing tolerances, colour variation may occur between batches
- Fosroc Nitoflor Coving U is not colour fast and may yellow over time. The rate of change will depend on UV light and heat levels and cannot be predicted. This will be more pronounced with lighter colours and blue shades and does not compromise the product’s performance or chemical resistance characteristics. The appearance of Fosroc Nitoflor Coving U can be greatly enhanced by applying one or two coats of Fosroc Nitoflor HB300 U
