Question:

Hi, Is your paint suitable to paint a steel roof?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

This product isn't suitable for use on any type of roof, as there is insufficient water run-off, meaning the paint could be in prolonged contact with water or immersed in water.

This would likely cause the paint to fail much quicker as a result.

If you can provide more information in relation to your project to [email protected], we will do our best to help.

questions Linden on 2022-09-20 20:55:22
Question:

Can you use this paint for composite front doors?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Yes, assuming the composite doors are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this can be used.

2 coats should be applied and 3 to any areas subject to pooling water.

Question:

Hi can you please let me know what is the best way to apply the coating to windows and doors for the best result . Regards Ronnie sigerson

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

This product can be applied by brush or roller application.

Assuming these are UPVC no primer will be required, but they must be clean ,dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet.

questions Steve on 2022-04-07 14:24:40
Question:

I'm replacing wooden casement windows which are stained brown with uPVC flush windows in Agate Grey. Wooden conservatory will remain and this is also painted with Sadolin brown stain. The guttering and down pipes are brown plastic. Can I paint conservatory and guttering with exterior satin finish Agate Grey and what preparation would you recommend for each?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Yes assuming the guttering and down pipes are upvc, clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin (Solvent Based) could be used for this application.

If they are not upvc we would recommend priming first with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 and checking for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application.

Regarding the stained timber areas we would recommend these are clean, dry, sound, sanded and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet then primed with Zinsser Cover Stain prior to application of Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin (Solvent Based).

If temperatures are over 10°C we would recommend using Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin (Water Based).

Any bare timber areas must be primed first with Zinsser Cover Stain.

questions Peter Harriman on 2022-03-08 20:17:27
Question:

I have UPVC window frames and opening sashes which are approx 30years old but in good condition do I need to sand the surface before applying your All Coat Exterior Satin Ral 7016 paint or a wipe down with clean water and washing up liquid or white spirit. Secondly would your spirit based version or water based version be best. Thank you

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

In a satin finish either water or solvent based can be used to paint UPVC.

Temperature during application and curing should be considered when choosing, for temperatures ranging from 5 to 10°C we would recommend the solvent based, above these temperatures water based would be more suitable.

The substrate must be clean, dry, sound and lightly sanded prior to application.
