Teamac High Performance Polyurethane Topcoat
This high-performance marine coating is engineered to provide exceptional durability and gloss retention, even under the most challenging marine conditions. It is formulated with aliphatic polyurethane, ensuring that the coating remains light stable and does not yellow or fade, even when exposed to intense ultraviolet light. Available in a variety of colours, this coating is ideal for a range of marine applications, including use on GRP, wood, ferro concrete, and primed metal surfaces.
Application Areas
This product is specifically designed for use on surfaces that require long-lasting protection and a high-gloss finish in marine environments. It is suitable for application on GRP, wood, ferro concrete, and metals that have been properly primed. It is essential to avoid using this product on conventional solvent-based paints, as this can compromise the integrity of the coating. Additionally, it should not be applied over water-based paints that are not compatible with polyurethane coatings.
Application Guidelines
For optimal results, this coating should be applied between 5°C and 30°C using a brush or short nap mohair roller. Airless spraying is also an option but requires controlled conditions to ensure safety and effectiveness. The product is supplied as a two-component system, with the base and activator mixed together thoroughly before application. It is recommended to mix the components using a slow-speed electric mixer for at least two minutes to ensure a uniform mixture. The coating should be applied at a thickness of 60 microns DFT (Dry Film Thickness) to achieve the desired finish and durability.
Important Considerations
This product is intended for industrial use only and should be handled by professionals trained in its application. When spraying, it is crucial to operate in a well-ventilated area with appropriate protective equipment to avoid inhalation of any free isocyanates that may be emitted. Under no circumstances should this coating be used in environments where the temperature exceeds the recommended application range, as this can adversely affect the performance of the coating.
Additional Product Recommendations
For best results, it is advisable to use this coating in conjunction with Teamac HP Primer Undercoat, which provides an excellent base for the topcoat. If additional protection is required, particularly in highly corrosive environments, consider applying an additional layer of Teamac High Performance Marine Gloss.

Questions
Question about the product
Geoffrey Home on 2024-02-26 22:03:20 | Question:
We will not be using the entire 1 litre in one go. What is the mixing ratio please? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
It is not recommended to part mix this product, the manufacturer does not list the mixing ratio.
steve field on 2022-06-11 08:59:03 | Question:
Hi, would like to use your marine 2 part paint on my hull which has I assume standard marine enamel paint on it. Can this be primed and by what to enable me to use P101. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We would not recommend application of this product over a single pack enamel paint, this should be removed prior to application and an appropriate primer maybe required. Please provide more infomration to [email protected]
Stuart on 2022-04-13 10:43:16 | Question:
Hi, I’m considering using this product to coat nylon fabric on a skin -on-frame kayak. Required to be abrasion resistant, UV resistant and flexible. Any past experience or comments? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product would not be suitable for this application unfortunately.
Richard Mortlock on 2018-11-25 15:29:05 | Question:
Can this product be used to seal crazed gelcoat on a dinghy deck ? Will it penetrate and bind to the grp substrate ? Is a primer needed ? The cracks are not hairline but are not wide. They are too extensive to consider re gelcoating. Thank you. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming the crazing is not deeper than 1mm, we have customers that have success with the following system. If crazing is deeper than 1mm then you would need to re-gelcoat. Thoroughly clean all surfaces and apply Teamac 2 Pack Zinc Phosphate Primer to the crazes and allow to dry overnight. Sand, then clean down and apply a further coat of Teamac 2 Pack Zinc Phosphate Primer, sand again once dry and then apply 2 coats to all areas of Teamac P101 High Performance Finish in the desired colour.
