Features & Benefits
- Suitable for:
- Key coat for hydraulic coatings, screed and low absorption substrates
- Cement-based coatings
- To control suction on high absorption substrates such as lightweight aircrete blocks
- Waterproof coatings for tanking, reservoirs, holding tanks and swimming pools
- Bonding and waterproofing of render and plaster coatings
- Bonding cement screeds without the need for existing surface preparation
- Enhances screed for laying tiles
- Coating, re-profiling or re-shaping mortar for patching areas such as damaged corners of concrete
- Bonding mortar for repairing concrete (bridging mortar for construction joints)
- Mortar for fixing/bonding prefabricated elements
- Pointing and filling mortar for voided masonry joints, chimney stacks or to form a mortar flashing
- Repair of concrete floors
- Excellent adhesion of renders, mortars and concrete, even on smooth substrates
- Waterproofs renders and mortars and improves resistance to oils, grease, fuel and dilute acids
- Passivation of steel rebars
- Lowers the modulus of elasticity and improves the resistance of mortar to tension, abrasion and impacts
- Allows for the construction of structures intended to be in contact (even permanently) with water or sea water (using the appropriate cement)
- Limits shrinkage, crazing and chalking
- Solid content: 50%
Application
Substrate Preparation
- Substrates must be clean, sound, dust free and free of any material which may prevent adhesion
- Remove traces of oil, laitance, curing compounds, paint, etc.
Key Coat
Ready-to-Use Renders
- For general guidance add 0.5 litres of 751 Lankolatex to the mixing water volume for a 30kg bag of render or as advised for the specific coating
- On wet or wet patchy substrates or where different materials have been used it is advisable to apply a key coat made up by adding 0.5 litres of 751 Lankolatex to the mixing volume for a 30kg bag of render. Allow the key coat to fully dry a minimum of 48 hours before the application of the next coat. This suggestion will assist against the effect of 'block ghosting' and shade variation
- Allow to harden before applying the next coat
Traditional Coatings
- Mix one part cement with one or two parts sand
- Mix with the 751 Lankolatex as a diluted solution of 1:2 clean water, into a creamy consistency
- Apply a firm key coat on to the dampened substrate and leave with a combed or stippled finish
- Allow to harden before applying the base/body coat
Liquid Key Bonding Coats
Screed & Traditional Concrete
- Mix one part cement with one or two parts sand
- Mix with the 751 Lankolatex solution into a creamy consistency
- Apply with a brush or broom on to the dampened substrate
- Apply the concrete or screed on to this freshly applied liquid key coat
Ready-to-Use Mortars
- 751 Lankolatex is used as a diluted solution of 1:3 clean water
- 751 Lankolatex is used as a diluted solution of 2:3 clean water for creating a waterproof base coat
Passivation of Steel
- Mix the repair mortar 730 Lankorep Fin or 731 Lankorep Structure into a creamy consistency with pure 751 Lankolatex
- Apply on to steel that has been pre-prepared with a broom or paintbrush
- Apply the repair mortar on to the preparation whilst it is still fresh
Waterproofing, Improving Performance of Concretes & Mortars
- Use 751 Lankolatex solution instead of water.
Bonding & Waterproofing of Plasters
- 751 Lankolatex is used as a diluted solution made up of 1/3 751 Lankolatex and 2/3 clean water.
